Road & Track 12 Best
Got my Road & Track yesterday. They had an article on the 12 best cars under $30k. RX-8 wasn't even mentioned. Some of the cars they listed were the Scion tC, for crying out loud. And the Chevy Cobalt SS!?!?
What is wrong with those guys?

Still, C & D has given our car a top 10 best award 3 years running. You would think Road and Track would take that into consideration.

Sometimes I think magazines like that try to 'advertise' a variety of cars, not just the ones everbody already knows is great.

Bummed, but bring on OU!
Umm, the 8's 3 years old and hasn't changed a bit. Old hat, as they say.
The Cobalt SS is a fantastic bit of engineering, and takes out it's competitors in pretty much every performance category. Why shouldn't it get the nod.

Mostly pretty good cars. Chevy Cobalt SS, Mustang GT, Civic SI, Miata PRHT, MazdaSpeed 3, Cooper S JCW, Lancer Evo, 350Z, Pontiac Solstice, Scion tC TRD, Subaru Impreza WRX, and VW GTI. They picked the Z as best overall.
I still thing the RX-8 should have been in there. But that would have made three Mazdas on the list. Might not be politically correct.

It does seem like a pretty good list, but some of them do make me wonder how the Rx8 isn't mentioned at all.
Oh well, i have an 8, and none of hte above mentioned cars so...I guess I don't care what they think! lol

C&D has a hard-on for Mazda, so Mazda always win in their mind.
I agree with the previous poster. The base price of the Z and 8 might be in the 20s, but they usually come out over $30K. It's sad, very sad. I am not a big Honda guy, but I am starting to love Acura's one price strategy. Of course it is nice to be able to put what you want on it. For example, I hate sunroofs. I would try my best to avoid one. But that would mean i cant get heated seats.

I find Road and Track pretty even handed. Maybe they thought that having three Mazdas in the top twelve too much. Certainly they would get letters over that!
I don't have that issue yet so I will hold off on this particular article.
R&D and C&D have always beeen pretty good about giving faint priase to cars they didn't like and being estatic (sp?) over cars they loved. They have always shown their like for the 8 as a drivers car.
Write them and ask them "what's up?" Maybe I will when I get the mag.

The MS3 pretty well obliterates the Civic Si in every imaginable performance category, and the "regular" 3 has it all over the "regular" Civic, too, on "regular car" terms... On that basis, it's kinda hard to figure out how the Si managed to make it in the Top Twelve.
At worst the '8 would deserve an honorable mention. The Z doesn't kill the '8 like the MS3 kills the Si, not by a long shot.

im pretty sure that like many other non-8 fans, all of the car mags would probably be A LOT more quick to jump on the RX bandwagon if it would eve come out with another30-50HP stock.
Not to say it's going to happen by any means, but almost every professional review states the same...awesome car to drive, but is always just on the TIP of euphoria, but then slides back down the ascending side right before almost getting over the power satisfaction moutain.
Taking in all good and bad, i guess i could see the 8 as being right about at the cutoff of the medias overall top 12 view.
