150 is much cheaper than an accessport...

you can order the stuff from the "hardware" section of that site.

it even broadcasts an unsecured network while using it. Sound like a much better solution for carpc'ers

instead of a wifi usb adapter, another cell phone broadcasting "wmwifirouter", canscan unit with serial to usb, then hoping it all connects.. just plug this **** in, then sync your phone to the pc

I don't know why you guys are comparing it to the accessport. If anything, you should compare it to the scangauge2. The feature set is similar, with a snazzier interface.

+1 this is a datalogging device, not a reprogramming device. You can use it to monitor and record data but not tune or reprogram your PCM.

Most dataloggers are in the $150-250 range so this is competitve with that. But an accessport this aint.

Kiwi Wifi and REV purchased

Yeah, I know i'm reviving a dead thread, but i couldn't see starting a new one. I just purchase Rev and got my PLX Kiwi Wifi today. There is another app for the iphone (Dash Command) that has a similar feature set, but REV looks more promising. There is also a $5 app that will read and clear codes, and has a few obd2 monitors. As stated, I went with REV, and in the 45 minutes or so that i've played with it, it's pretty sweet. It's more of a fun tech gadget than anything, but very nice.

The Kiwi Wifi plugs right in and is simple to set up. I have mine mounted to the steering column adjustment lever for now for easy access so i can turn it on and off. The power switch is nice, so i don't have to worry about draw on the battery. It's a light draw, so it's nothing to worry about really since my 8 is my dd, but a power switch is nice none the less. At some point I'll get an AP, but this will stay with me as i can use it for data logging and an extra gauge. Since it isn't tied to one car, i'm sure i'll have a bunch of new friends that need codes cleared. I went with the PLX device mostly because of price. It's also compatible with all of the iPhone apps that i've see so far. It has plenty of cord from the ODB connector to the device to mount it pretty much anywhere.

The REV software is pretty clean and easy to navigate, but is limited to one gauge at a time. Version 2 looks very promising, which is why i chose it over Dash Command. I'm surprised at it's speed and isn't nearly as laggy as i had expected. I had been playing with the free version for a while and like the accelerometer and gps functions already.

I'll post some screen grabs from my phone and some more of my thoughts after i've played with it some more.

I am on the verge of purchasing this same setup as well. Done quite a bit of research and seems to be the best option out there. My question is what Metrics are available to the us from the Kiwi/Rev combo? I know some cars output everything through the OBDII and others only give some info.

Could you please post all the Metrics available to the RX-8 for me?
Thanks!

Would an Accessport dongle work?

...yes, I already have an Accessport, but wouldn't mind trying this out.

Just plug it into the OBDII port under your dash and find a place to put it and the 6ft of cable. Mine temporarily strapped to my steering column adjustment lever and all of the cable is velcroed under my dash.
