if you move the car around during the day without driving any distance or warming it up,I would strongly recommend doing the 4k rev before putting it to bed for the night. Otherwise it's not necessary. Make sure your batttery is properly charged too.

Also remember when you rev and turn it off your engine stops injecting oil as soon as you turn off the key, just a fyi... I normally rev to 2K RPMS just as a safe guard since you dont have to rev and turn it off if the engines already warm...

before you can rev a cold engine, you first need to qualify as a first class idiot. I switch it off cold and restart it all I want. Never had a problem.

This is interesting, never thought about oil injection. Can anyone back this up with additional info? Not saying I dont believe you, but never seen this discussed before.

Reving to 3k rpm should not hurt the engine regardless of the engine temp

Yeah, a friend of mine here who hardly logs on much because of all the cocky assholes on this forum annoy him, he used to work for Rotary Performance (RX7 Store) ive gotten plenty of help from in the past about the rotary and help with some installs but from what he told me the Series I RX8 stops injecting oil as soon as the ignition is turned off. He said it really doesnt do TOO much damage but you really only need to rev-and-turn-off if your car has flooding problems or if you have a cold engine because the engine runs rich until it warms up.

This problem was fixed in the Series II RX-8 which keeps on injecting oil until the actual rotors stop...

And reving to 3krpm's shouldnt hurt the engine but id wait 30 seconds to a minute if you're in cold weather before I would do this...

Any particular reason why you wouldn't wait until the engine is warm, as Mazda says?

Running it to 3K shortly after you start it won't hurt - you're going to do that anyway once you start driving - but until it's warm the fuel mixture is still rich and you're still going to get excess gas in the chambers.

Oh i know all of this, I never shut off my 8 cold, I was just coming up with an alternative for the person above me. Dont worry Ken, I never shut off my 8 cold as I know the 8 runs rich until warm;)
