Redlining on an 8
Redlining on an 8
I am picking up my new 8 on Saturday and it seems that people talk about the need to redline your engine occasionally. I was wondering if this is true and why people say this? Does it make your engine run better, last longer?

Running at redline (and taking long trips) cleans the carbon deposits out of the engine.

There are multiple recomended ways to brake in an engine. Theres the way it says in the owners manual. Theres the way Racing Beat suggest. Then, some say that no brake in is required. It's not a piston engine where you have rings that have to seat.
True, no piston rings to bed in, but we still have gearboxes to properly mesh. Follow the manual's break in procedure, then have some Fun!

I would follow the Racing Beat recommendations... The reason being is that they take in consideration Mazda's Guidelines and then add a few more just to be safe.
I wonder if instructions on bedding-in the brakes should be given (or not). I had never heard of this when I bought my new 8 last summer so I never did it. My brakes a squealing like crazy so I'm going to try the bedding-in but I wish I knew about it right from the outset.
