Redlining on an 8

I am picking up my new 8 on Saturday and it seems that people talk about the need to redline your engine occasionally. I was wondering if this is true and why people say this? Does it make your engine run better, last longer?

Running at redline (and taking long trips) cleans the carbon deposits out of the engine.

If it's NEW, don't redline until after breakin (i think).

If it's brand new, wait until after the break-in period to red line it.
If new-to-you, have at it.
Of course warm up the engine first.

There are multiple recomended ways to brake in an engine. Theres the way it says in the owners manual. Theres the way Racing Beat suggest. Then, some say that no brake in is required. It's not a piston engine where you have rings that have to seat.

True, no piston rings to bed in, but we still have gearboxes to properly mesh. Follow the manual's break in procedure, then have some Fun!

I would follow the Racing Beat recommendations... The reason being is that they take in consideration Mazda's Guidelines and then add a few more just to be safe.

Most people change their oil sooner than 7500 miles or 6 months.

I wonder if instructions on bedding-in the brakes should be given (or not). I had never heard of this when I bought my new 8 last summer so I never did it. My brakes a squealing like crazy so I'm going to try the bedding-in but I wish I knew about it right from the outset.

About to change my brake pads (Hawks)... and I will be "bedding-in" the rotors.

I've been following this thread since the start, and I finally would like to put in my 2 cents.

Redline that bitch. Often.

I tend to make a game of getting the shift warning to emit a short chirp rather then a full long beep. I don't ever push it to the fuel cut off.
