Rear windows

What do you guys think about how limited the rear windows can be opened? I havent really sat in the back of the car thatmuch. Tonight I wanted to try to save some gas by turning off the AC and a friend of mine sitting in the back told me he barely got much air from outside since the window couldnt open enough and begged me to turn the air on. I dont know I drove around the other day with the rear windows open to look stylish but I kindof agree with him. The windows dont look that cool when theyre opened. Maybe I would disagree if I also had the sunroof.

My other question is do you think it would bepossible to install a rolldown window contraption for the rear window or even a power window for it? I know it is stupid for such a small window to be opened but I kind of dont see the point in evenhaving a window back there if you can barely even be opened.

Thumbs up They all Sound Like Good Ideas But What next

Your wish list sounds good. It would be better if we could do something with it.

Cool Windows.........

I've noticed that the rear windows won't stay open...

I get in, open the rears, then the first door slam shuts them both!....they need some work....

Funniest thing was -
I am driving along, and get the urge to see if the air flow from the vents increases if the rear window is open... so I reach straight back behind me, and flick the drivers rear open.....then I am stuck. Absolutely immobile. I have to come to a stop and open the drivers door to free my arm....that is embarrassing...

LOL! I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago after reading the suggestions for aiding fuel economy. Just before posting an inquiry as to how to keep them open, I accidentally noticed that they DO, in fact, have detents. You have to push the latch a bit firmer than you may have on, say a Datsun 510GLX (probably the last time I popped out a window). :D

If you have the money anything is possible
I'm sure you could pay to make back windows powered

JeRKy, did you have a front window open when your friend opened the back one? I think the small opening is supposed to allow air to flow through from the front window to the back seat.

Maybe, but it would be awfully difficult and expensive if there's a structural member in the way of lowering that window. (That's why the back windows in some cars only lower half-way.)

Are you locking them open? There is a way to use the latch so that it presses against the window opening - seems like it's a locking position.

Not only are there structural braces in the way of a roll-down window, but from the pictures I've seen, there is precious little room in there for a motorized rear window (a-la minivan).

Can I atleast get the back windows adjusted so they can open up a little more? Would doing that screw up aerodynamics and add too much windresistance?
