Rear view mirror controls?

Please forgive me... i have no manual for my car and i have a question about the rear view mirror... On the 04 models (6 speed sport) are those garage door opening controls and if they are how do you program it?

Yes they are garage door opening controls, if I'm not mistaken they are "HomeLink" system... I don't know how to program them but they're pretty common, you should be able to find some info on the net about it.

you can register on the MazdaUSA website as an owner and be able to download the manual as a .pdf file.

It's a pain to learn the programming at first, my advise is park inside the garage right below the "button" on your garage door opener. It will tell you to unplug the garage door opener (reduce damage) but you need power to program right? You have to basically be in humping distance of the garage to open the door. It's ridiculous how weak the signal is.

You must have a lot of interference in your neighborhood, as I did mine from the street at the end of my driveway (easy 4-6 car lengths away).

Yeah, I had no problem programming from the driveway. I usually open the garage from 200 feet away or so as I pull into my alley.

I had to use the learn function - couldn't get it to talk to my opener any other way. Just went online and got the opener manual to find which button was the learn one ( there were 3 unlabled buttons) Programmed it that way and it worked like a charm.

It took me about 2 hours to get mine to work and I had to have a HomeLink person on the phone. Some of the garage door openers have some "Security Key" that you can't program the mirror with. So basically...if you can't get the one to work...try all of your remotes. Other than that little glitch...greatest thing in the world.
