Rear View Mirror

Does anyone know if the rear view mirror has any special features?

Most of the brochures seem to show something there, maybe auto dimming?

But the pre-production car I saw recently had a normal rear view mirror.

Chris

(this is a duplicate of a thread I started in the Europe forum but as we have no owners there yet!!!! I thought this may generate a better response)

Yeah Homelink is really cool. Basically there are 5 buttons at the bottom of the rear view mirror (if you get this option - I got the GT package which included it). 3 of the buttons allow you to program them to different remotes like garage door openers so you don't have to try to find a place to put that blasted remote! The other two buttons turn on and off the auto dimming feature. I haven't had a chance to test that feature since I just got my car yesterday and haven't driven it at night yet. I have had a chance to program the buttons to my remote and it works great. Really cool! I'm sure this is a feature on a lot of cars now, but it's new to me!

Homelink: touring, grand touring only

I'm fairly sure it does not come with the sport pkg, only touring and g. touring (HomeLink). I haven't tried to turn off the auto dimming feature, but it works great so far while on!

The auto-dimming is great! I had noticed it driving at night, but didn't really see it take effect until last night. There's a small electric eye between the buttons for the auto-dimming and Homelink that samples the light coming through your back window. If the light is bright, the rearview mirror takes on a greenish hue that diffuses the light almost to the point that highbeams look like regular headlights (kinda looks like nightvision). When the light source moves out from behind you, the mirror transitions from the green back to normal. It's awesome. :D

For sure. I picked up my car Wed. night and I still haven't received the "Your car has been released from port" email. I was standing out infront of the dealership listening to a presentation being given my a Mazda sales trainer when the truck rolled up. It was about 3:15 PM.... No forewarning at all. So you've still got a shot Poo.
