Rear Differential

Recently purchased my obsession and it is appearing that i need a new differential, no biggie, glad to turn a wrench on her, but when it comes to many things on this car i have a lot to learn, this particular one i need to learn fast. Basically im looking for a new differential, and wondering what to get, whats the best gearing and im not looking to spend a fortune, at the moment its 100% oem but wont stay that way for to long not looking to build the worlds fastest car but would like something that will work good now, and not be hurt or hold down the ability of the vehicle in the future... suggestions? 06 manual 6 speed

Afraid I can't help, but how do you know that you need a new diff? That's not generally something that fails especially if the car is all stock..?

Was out on a *cough* city drive with a friend, we took some good corners and really tested the handeling of the car, on the slow return trip back i noticed a gravel sound when accelerating slowly and usually while turning from a stop, also feels somewhat like its grabbing a bit, ive done a little reaserch and from what i can find just changing the oil doesnt seem to help so im just going with replacing it, and if i can get something that can perform a little beter anyway, why not

Hmm - I had similar "grinding" sounds after spirited driving for awhile on low speed turns. My 8 had 26K miles on it so I replaced the rear diff fluid 2 months ago. There was quite a bit of metal shavings attached to the magnetic drain bolt when I pulled it out. Since replacing the fluid the diff had been silent and super smooth. Plus it was less than $25 to replace the fluid and took about 30 minutes. Give it a try.
