Reactions of coworkers/friends when they see your RX8 for the first time!

Just thought I would share this....

Last week I picked up an Rx8 and a number of co-workers were dieing to see it. Before showing to anyone, I parked it in a way that it is clearly visible from the side. It's at that perfect angle if you know what I mean. I work the evening shift so anyone that sees it is usually when it is dark but a white car really stands out in the light. Anyway, I park it in an area where as soon as you come around a corner you will see it. The reactions I got as soon as every coworker saw it was "wow!" "no way" "holy ****" "fu#k" and the list goes on and on.

First thing everyone notices is the pearl in the paint. A number of the girls were like "it looks just like nail polish!" After looking at the rear of the car I show everyone the front from about 10ft away since the aero package is installed. While we are in the front talking about the car (I dont say much since I want to hear what they think and have to say).

As we are in the front I then tell them to look at the interior. I hit the unlock button and keep in mind its dark out and you can't see inside until the interior lights come on. As the light slowly comes on, the red/black interior pops out of nowhere and you would not believe the reactions I got. Everyone, I mean everyone lwere amazed by the interior and the car overall.

I then open the door and they peer inside amazed. At this point they see the back seats and are looking at the guages, seats, rotor emblem on the seats. I point out the rotary shifter and the little things that they would not notice etc....
Then I say check this out and then open the rear door. Now they are more amazed. It's just crazy the reactions I got. I have a yellow FD and I thought that car got attention but the rx8 appeals to a much wider crowd.

After that I show them the trunk area and the handle under the trunk to close it (which I just found out about when a rx8 guy showed it to me at a meet in NYC). After that they take a few more looks around and we head back to the office. I don't think I got much work done last week since everyone was asking to see the car. Even guys that know rx8s stated it does not look like your average Rx8, I was not sure if it was the appearance package or the color but I was very surprised how much attention an Rx8 gets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even all my FD friends were like "no you didnt!, get out!, damn, you're gonna make me get one" etc.....

I'm sure most have similar experiences when friends/co-workers/family/neighbors saw the car, share them.

Thanks,

Anthony

Ha, ha. I wish I had coworkers like that. The only one in my department that commented on my car was a 20-year-old who then proceeded to demand how much I got paid. LOL

Hehe.. I got the same thing the first week I got my car from my fellow co-workers. the usual "OH MY GOD" and "Oh no you didnt!?!?" they are just well classic.

The best recently was while driving with this girl I like, she was in the passenger seat while one of my friends with a "friend" (ugh). I'm driving and wanting to get home so I'm kinda hauling ***. The girl just says "Oh my god I love this car. Feels like I'm driving in a video game and for the first time I'm winning!" hahaha..

Trust me you'll be getting comments for awhile now, especialy requests of "When Can I drive it?" and "When you gonna take me for a spin?"

No offense, but as an Rx-7 owner, the Rx-8 wouldn't make me that googoo eyed. It's a nice car, but I doubt they are THAT highly respected by average car folk unless they are just really rare in your area. although I will admit one of the sexiest things I saw was on a rainy day, a copper red mica Rx-8 with it's parking lights and daytime running blueish HIDs on slowly (maybe 8-15 mp/h) crawling up to a redlight.

When I was still in college, me and a couple girls headed out in my car to grab some lunch. Upon returning to the campus parking lot, the girl in the back said she loved my car so much, she was cumming right then and there. I was like wait till I find a parking spot and let you out first!!!...

HMMMM, I have a Copper Red Mica. What you saw, there were few made, and only as a SHINKA. The 06's were available in limited numbers and few colors, both AT and MT, but all with the Copper stitching in the seats. What you saw was a "true' SHINKA, and I have yet, to find of only 1500 SHINKA packages made in 06, how many were the COPPER RED....I have to Admit, they are a beautiful color, and even more awesome almost at dusk with the running lights on, and the amber clears to boot.I'd say in my area there may be 25, rx8's that I have seen. I have yet to see another Copper Red one, and am the only lady of those that drives one.

I was informed by a female co-worker that it was "panty-droppin' material". Then again, this was aug '03ish so there weren't many on the roads then.

I have cloth. Both the girls were commenting about how cool it was as soon as we headed out the doors and saw my car. I guess she couldn't hold it anymore by the time we got back.

That is awesome. I have a neighbor that always tells me how it is such a cool looking car and that it is so unique because it is the only one like it in the area. I wish that was true. I know of at least three others I see on a regular basis that are almost exactly like mine!

Gatta love the vibrations that Wankel puts out.

My brother was against me getting this car. Fuel economy reliability (vs my Acura) etc.

Well, after I got it I went to pick him up and go for a spin. He's taking stuff out of the trunk of his car. I pull around and park at a 45 degree angle to him. It's dusk. He turns around and sees the car his eye grow wide, his mouth drops open, and he takes a stop back. He then mouths, woa.

They generally like it. Some are a bit polarized by the looks though. More interesting than a lot of cars out there.

I saw a CRM in a showroom but it was $34,000 and my mom wanted it sooooo much (after driving my 7) but our shitty mustang (we payed $27,000 has dropped to a $13,000 value with only 7000 miles.

Well, when I was car-shopping my dealer let me take a used silver '04 out for an overnight test drive. I had fun, went up in the local mountains, took some photos of me and the car, and e-mailed them to my girlfriend. Based on the photos she hated the car. A week later I bought my '05 winning blue 6-speed. The next weekend unannounced, I picked her up in the new car and couldn't believe her response. Maybe it was the color or maybe it was just seeing and riding in the car vs. seeing a picture, but she had the same reaction as the chick described by moRotorMotor. Then... a few days later I let her drive (she is an excellent driver who HATES automatics). All she could say was "Ohmigod this car just wants to keep going faster!" Ever since then she loves me more than ever.

My friend has two boys in high school. Of course they were all over the car the first time I went up for a visit—they had never heard of an RX-8 before. I was telling 'em how it's nice having 4 doors for a change, and they were like "wait—that car in the driveway has only two doors." I told 'em no, it actually has four. They didn't believe me until I went out and showed them.

Mine caused an accident.

I was in the middle lane of Interstate 4 stuck in 10mph stop and go traffic. A couple in the car on the left lane kept looking and when the car in front of them stopped, they did not. The good news is we were all going 10mph so I doubt anyone got hurt.

This was not the first time and also not unique to my RX8. I had a MR2 Turbo Project before...it was PARKED on the street in front of a cafe we were dining at. A car drove by and kept staring at it...same results--hit the person in front. Agan, no one was hurt.

Its noticed where I work. There are 3 rx8's that I know of, but since the mlitary base is so large, we never park next to each other. Most comon questions are: How much? and "it looks soo nice why isnt it more popular?"

One of my friends brought his restored Corvette to church just to compare them.
One of my best enemies looked at it sideways so I would not see him looking, and then put this head down and slid away!
One of my military buddies and former boss, looked it up. down. inside. and out. and whapped me across the back and said."You finally got your car!".
My kid sister who forbade me to get it, esopecially if it was for Mom, rode in it once, put her head down so I wouldn't see her eyes and said - It's a real good car, I'm glad you got it! The air conditioning was good!"
My neice said "When You die can I have it?"

The fact that people get these reactions and the 8 continues to sell like poop just goes to show you that Mazda is attacking a non-segment. The car is too underpowered to be $30k+ and too expensive to have every chick that wants one, own one. If it were priced like an Eclipse or had 300 hp it would sell like hot cakes!

And the appearance package on the 8 is what makes it teh hawt.
