Hello everyone I just bought my RX8 about 3 days ago and have a few question's. This is my first Rotary car, my previous car was a WRX. One of my questions is when i first turn on my car after it has been off a while it and I go in reverse it makes a weird noise like the car is dragging something but it only happens once. Anyone else have this prob or does anyone know what it is. Also a lot of times when i come to a red light and while rolling slowly put it in first but still leave the clutch in i feel the something shudder which i think is the tranny, can anyone help me out with these things and tell me if they are normal? Thanks, oh and BTW I LOVE my RX8!

 

First is ABS check. Second may be you did not rev match going into first. Wecome and enjoy your 8. :D

screw putting it into first... rolling to a stop at a light? Put it in neutral and take your foot off the clutch!!!

welcome. I have the same feeling. I was more or less told to rev match. Which I have been doing and that seems to help. But I have no definitive answers as to actually what is happening withing the clutch / trans save on explanation about it being the synchros lining up.

Hope that sheds some kind of light. Maybe somebody else can explain better.

Btw - Its a great car - but you know that. My brother traded in his WRX (he was going to get an '8 but he was too upside down so he got a Legacy GT) Why did you trade your WRX in for.

I think its a clunk from the auto headlight adjuster. Mine has made this noise from day one and it is normal. I am assuming you have the HID lights.

 

I do have the HID's. The 1st gear is still making the shudder action but only sometimes. I got rid of my WRX b/c I was putting too much money into it and couldnt take it anywhere b/c people were starting to mess with it, and it was also so low that I hit a lot of things and couldnt go a lot of places. Some people told me to make it higher since I had coilovers but i always thought that would look stupid. I do regret it but im hoping the 8 will keep me from missing it too much unlike my last 2 cars.

 

Heh ... glad you joined us. I don't know where you're from but good thing you sold the WRX because it's reported as the #1 stolen car in Canada (crappy security or something).
