buy it!!!
Go ahead and buy your RX-8. My wife JUST learned how to drive the MT RX-8 we bought. So far it is EASY to shift throughout the gears 1 to 6 with lil effort. I drive fast and she drives "normal". And so far we've put 500 miles on the car.

My suggestion is just drive it and see if you like it. The dealers here (San Jose) are now giving test drives.
My only complaint about the shifter is reverse. It sometime takes me three tries to get into reverse and not 6th gear. I also own a '96 Miata and that tranny is perfect. My '8 has only 350 miles on it so far, so maybe it will wear in.
The chassis is tight, and fit and finish is very good. And the engine pulls well. Even in early break in, it feels strong. I can hardly wait to break the engine in further

Very cool car. It'll be so different from your 93FD. The ride isn't harsh, it has better fit and finish, comfortable for long trips, just a very nice car with a lot of personality. Of course it won't handle or be sickeningly fast like your 7, but it does love to rev and is very fun to drive. Keep it in the rotary family.

Couple other good things, so far no 3000rpm hesitation, no AST tank problems, no 5th gear synchro probs, no peeling interior and paint and I can guarantee there will be no turbo/vacuum line issues, or IC hose problems. Hopefully I am not jinxing us.
