I have a 04 and have never had a problem with the A/C.

However, it has been in the 90s here the last few weeks and have noticed that the AC is only cold when I turn the thermastat to the lowest setting. If I turn it the slightest to the right, it comes out with BLAZING HOT air. I just left the A/C on the coldest setting and not have it on full blast.

Is this part of the known A/C problem? Since my car is being towed in, I am going to have Mazda look at it.

Check if your VIN falls into the range mentioned in this TSB - maybe this wasn't done on your car yet.

 

I dont have my VIN number handy but thanks for the link to the TSB. I am taking it to Mazda when I pick up my loaner tomorrow. I know they somtimes seem insulted when you show them the TSBs..

That does sound exactly like what the problem is.

^ its not insulting, its just conformation from mazda itself of a problem. if anything its your best chance not to get screwed.
