Question Question about Bestmotoring and rx8

Hello, I got both Bestmotoring videos that got the rx8, one vid got the red rx8 that gotten beat by a wrx, a infinity, s2000 and even a integra

And teh second video got the mazdaspeed ver of the rx8, against the s2000, a VW, Alpha, and integra, and the rx8 smoked em all

SO THE QUESTION IS!!!
is the mazdaspped rx8 got more HP??, wut it got that makes it faster??, or was it the driver that was better??

I think it is the skill of the driver, if My memory is working tonight I seem to recall the other cars, especially the G35, being worked over rather aggressively.

If I had to pin point one thing~ it's probably the suspension. The RX-8 has a nice suspension setup, but it's too soft for serious performance. The RX-8 is very nimble, but the soft damper compromises its composure to carry the speed through the corner. We've beaten the bash-BM-driver topic to death, these are pros we are dealing with. The Mazda speed RX-8 indeed has more power (suopposedly the MS exhaust along adds 20hp), but what really make a difference in the tuned version is the lowered center of gravity, siff suspension, much better tires and increased frame rigidity.

As far as the Skyline Coupe goes.... well, it's just a fast car.

According to the Mazdaspeed web site (in Japanese), it has a revised ECU which ajusts fuel and timing for more power (like Canzoomer's mod), high flow exhaust and a lightened flywheel. The site doesn't give the HP specs but one can assume that it is bit higher than the stock JDM model.

mazdaspeed exhaust?? 20 hp????ha! no way jose...infact it doesn't even make much power..maybe like 1-2.5 horsepower... it just makes the car sound more aggressive...search more on this forum for numbers..

It's probably catless or has one high flow cat which should add a decent amount of power.

That best motoring was pretty old, i think that was the November issue.
Neways, the Mazdaspeed has, light weight flywheel, exhaust, Ecu, Stabilizer bar, Coilovers, light weight rims.... etc.
Mostly handling improvement.. and no.. MS exhaust don't add 20hp... it adds almost no hp in fact, as tested by some of the members on this forum...

I think weight reduction and handling improvement is the big factor on that race..
Also, the S2000 is a Spec V... suppose to do not as good on the track ... be4, the race, the driver said the S2000 has a little problem with understeer or oversteer, forgot...

NEways... this Video shows great potential of the RX-8...

In the December issue of Best Motoring, there is Modded RX-8 race, with FEED RX-8, Autoexe RX-8, R-magic ...etc.

In the January issue of Best Motoring RX-8 is also featured.. to be compared with S2000, Lotus...and other cars in its class...

that first BM video was old and right when the car first came out...i'd suspect that the car wasn't being driven to it's full potential...not to say it would have beaten all those cars but it would have come a lot closer than it originally did...i feel that if they raced those same exact cars again now, the 8 would do much better with a driver more experienced in driving the 8

That would seem logical, except that the RX8 didn't seem to do well in the January issue according to the other post.

And those race videos your talking about the drivers spend more time talking smack and farting around than seriously driving IMO. Sure they are good drivers, but calling stuff to the other guy while passing and causing you to miss a shift? Lame.

I wont go into anything else, but I would take most videos with a huge chuunk of rock-salt.

I just thought that it's funny that in every car forum, that if their car does well, then Best Motoring is like reference material, if their car doesn't do well, then it's like the BM drivers don't drive seriously and take it with a grain of salt.:D
