Question about 2 rx8's

Hey there guys Popping my cherry with this post :D lol but i need an opinion

there are 2 rx8's im looking at they are both at a mazda dealer one is an 07 gt with 15000 kilometers and mazda speed wheels 6 speed ofc and they have it priced at 24900 canadian

but there is also a pewter? 04 that just came in and has 80000 kilometers on it and is going for 17900 canadian...

my question is what do you guys think about my situation i like the pewter color more but am just worried about km's so can some one reassure me about what the differences exactly are (ive read the stickeys) oh and i havnt driven either one of them because when i went to go look at them it was umm -40 out hahaha!

thx for your help guys!

Have a 3rd party check the compression of the engine. High mileage is a factor but you wanna make sure the motor is still in good shape. I would go with the lower mileage but if it was driven like it was stolen then that doesn't help you. Hope this helps.

Personal opinion...............not the 04 for a couple different reasons.
Miles
Warranty left
Potential first year issues
etc

there is also an electric yellow but its been modded and im scared of other peoples mods..

** also what kind of first year problems are we talking about because its almost a 10 grand difference in cars here folks! lol oh and this will be my DD

there shouldnt be a 10 grand difference between 04 and 05.

04s had a different tune from the factory, it may potentially shorten the life of the engine. it was fixed later on (reflash) but any damage would have been done.

8 year, 100k

So now how long would the 07 be covered vs. the 04? Quite a bit longer.

hmmm i saw the paper that said 8 year 160 000* kms on drive train tho and im sure i could fight it if thats what he is telling me

and im talking kilometers here guys! lol im thinking alot of you still think its 80k miles its actually 50k miles..... but everyone seems to say stay away from the 04.... but again i will drive them both...

and i dunno im wary about buying cars privately i know they are better deals.. and plus i would only buy an rx8 from an actual mazda dealer unless i could find a dece rx8 here in winnipeg manitoba which is kinda hard!

I bought my '04 with 82k KM on it. Drives good, no problems with it so far. Check to see if the oil pipe recall has been done if you do get the 04

I would listen to what Kainis said about the compression. Make sure it is ok for any model you chose. Enjoy it, its a fun car.

ok boys i drove the 04 today since its been so nice out that alot of the snow has gone! so i drove it on summer tires it seemed pretty good other then grabbing everynow and then because of the ice :S

but its been smoked in *barf* lol is there any way to get that out?

and can some one convince my mom that this car is practical and you can drive it in the winter? cause she seems to think that if you need to buy winter tires then the car shouldnt be driven in the winter....

my dad is an old car guy and thinks the rx8 is a good car but my mom is redic some times and thinks im going to kill myself..... sooo any suggestions???? cause i love the 8 and she has some mass hate since she doesnt see them in the winter

Hey Smirnofsoldier... i think the 15000km car you were looking at back in Jan of 09 is the car i bought!

Was it at destination Mazda and stormy blue in color? if so, its been an amazing car and i have had it since 23-Feb-09.

Anyways, have you bought your 8 yet?
