Question Pre-ordering

I have a question about the pre-ordering.

Today is one of the dates in which the dealers submit orders for RX-8's. My question is this, are the cars in this ordering period the only cars that will be arriving in June? There are two other ordering dates, both in February, are those orders placed for June shipment as well?

I'd like to know cuz if this is the only order of cars in the June shipment, I want in, if not, I will hold off on it. Thanks.

My dealer said that the first order period was for the first delivery allotment in June (hope earlier) and that any orders during later ordering periods would be for delivery later in the year. I would say if you want a car in June you order now and even then hope that your dealer has an allotment space left -- my dealer only had four cars in the first allotment.

So the order dates in Feb are for later in the year?

I thought Jan 13th orders were being delivered over the months June-August, with Feb 7th orders being delivered through the months of July-September and the March 7th order being delivered over the months from August-October. Obviously the pre-orders are probably not all arriving together in June for Jan 13th orders.

I was told at my Mazda dealership that the second and third allocation of vehicles will most likely be sold at $2-3k over MSRP, so if you miss out on getting an order in for the first allocation you might be screwed on the price.

I think they are just trying to scare people into ordering in the first allocation.

My dealer gave me the same story. If I order now I can have it for MSRP. When they get to the lot they are going up $2-3K. It helped me make a decision to do the order. I also made sure my deposit is refundable (have it in writing on the order form). If I am not happy I can walk otherwise I am saving myself 6-8 months of waiting for the prices to come down again.

Everything I have heard leans to that if you pre-order, whether it be 1st 2nd or 3rd dates you will get it at MSRP since you are an "enthusiast." It is only if a car makes it to the lot are the dealers I've talked to marking up the price over MSRP. Just my $.02

exactly! if you talk to a regular sales person that's what you're going to get too, a deposit on a car that is coming on their lot. the only way to make sure that you are in on the pre-order is to talk to the internet sales people. then you will get msrp.

Does every Mazda dealership have one of these Internet Sales people? The dealer I have been talking to seems totally willing to charge MSRP and doesn't talk about charging over MSRP anyway. All I know is the best way to get MSRP is to pre-order it and then take it to the dealership and submit your order when they order their cars.

Tallguylehigh,
Which dealer did you get MSRP from? I'm in New Jersey and that's information I just may need!

Lightbulb

I am currently talking with Maple Shade Mazda in Maple Shade NJ. I talked to a guy there named Roy, seemed like a good guy, and a rotary fanatic, he races RX-7's. He said that if you pre-order it they will sell it to you at MSRP. He did say that if/when pre-orders dont start filling the allotment and you start to see cars for sale on the lot, and not taken by pre-orders, they will be charging over MSRP. So basically if you come in without pre-ordering, expect to pay over MSRP, but if you order it, you are golden.

Oh, and a $1000, refundable deposit is required :D

Hope this helps.

well, being a bit neurotic about the whole ordering process, i have been on the phone twice today with my dealer. the first time to have him change the color from titanium to sunlight silver (my wife really wanted the silver) the second time i got him to tell me his allocation and confirm my order and which car in his allocation is mine. his allocation is 2/3/2 for may/june/july. my car is #2 in june. and mazda north america customer service re-iteratered to me today that today is the deadline for cars in the may-july batch and that anyone who's dealer confirmed their order by today would be getting an email from mazda this week telling them that the order is confirmed.
