potentially going from a TL to an rx8?

ok so heres my story..i joined as a member here a few years ago when i was looking for a car. ive always been a fan of the 8. but my brother had a old rx7 that had major issue problems. so my mom(i was 18 at the time) wasnt a fan of anything rx lol. i ended up getting a 05 acura TL. loved it to death. i had her for 3 years until i was driving home from school, Los angeles to VA. a friend was driving we got caught in some snow in NM and this happened

so now im in the same place. i really love the TL but i hear so much good about the 8. i just wonder how they compare? my TL got anywhere from 18-23 mpg in la traffic. and i had 270hp v6. on the other hand the fwd handling wasnt the best. i just wanted to know how the rx8 stacks up against it? i know its not a "fast car" but neither is a TL as long as its near that level i think it a wrap....any input would be helpful

I had a nissan maxima 3.5V6, about the same configuration as your TL. rx8 is nothing like it. the TL is a sedan with a powerful engine, good straight line acceleration and soft suspension for comfort. rx8 is a sports car, its about cornering, grip, and balance. but it all comes down to you like it or not, which means you need to test drive one.

just let you know all RX8's have 8year/100k engine warranty on the car.

I can understand your perspective, but I still happen to think that my wife's '10 TSX is a dream to drive and live with. Has a very rich, quality driving experience. Everything about the car is pleasing, in my opinion.

Yes, it was similar to a Honda in ways, but there were also many things that kept the Acura at a higher level. It just felt more luxurious, sturdy, and well built, compared to the Honda Accord my wife and I witnessed in person.

Regardless, the TSX is labeled as a Honda Brand in European countries, so I guess it doesn't make a difference over in that part of the world. Though in the U.S., Honda has created a separate luxury brand and I feel that there is a significant difference. Just my opinion of course.

Apologize for dragging this off topic, OP. And sorry about the accident, and very glad you are okay. The 8 is an extremely fun vehicle to drive, but you must test drive one to really get a feel of what it's about. Good luck with your research.
