Road debris (1 ft by 1 ft piece of sheet metal) on the PA turnpike kicked up from the car in front of me and flew into my bumper damaging it enough that touch up just barely isn't enough and repaint is a bit much so it'll probably stay that way for a while.

Car was 3 (three) days old, the dealer dinged the door when they applied the "protective coating".

Yes, I know I wasted my $250 there.

Sorry all...my damage goes way beyond a few scratches, dings and chips. Whats worse is my poor girl has all ready been in TWO accidents. On the bright side, I kept about 6000 miles off the car since it has been in body shops over two months!

This thread is indeed depressing. Fact is new cars just don't stay new for very long, and little scratches and chips are unvoiudable if you use the car daily. I have too many to list, and if I think too much about it I'll get depressed too. If my car wasn't black, I wouldn't notice any of them the marks on car though. Safe to say my next rx8 in 2007 or 2008 will not be black.

I believe in preventive maintence and i will tell you why. I have a ford ranger and my wife has a cavalier. We both decided to get an RX-8 together with the idea of selling either the ranger or cavalier. I want to keep the truck because it looks sharp and has low miles and is practical. So we decided to keep the truck, sell the car, and let her drive the 8. So as i was cleaning out her car and washing it i was noticed all of the dents and dings she has put on that car.

Im not afraid to admit my wife is a horrible driver. She has hit the garage numerous times and also has bumped into a few parked cars. And ladies and gentlemen i will not have a RX-8 tortured like that. So i just started a fight saying that i will not stand for it and i will be the primary driver of the 8. I think i won. Oh **** here she comes. bye

The other day I was pulling into a parking spot, which was slanted up hill a bit and slightly curbed the front where the the rotary accent would be. I even stopped my car and opened the door to see where the curb was and still inched up and hit the curb. I felt like a idiot.

My wife closed the garage door on the rear bumper. The door got jammed and kept going up and down. Put some pretty deep gouges in the bumper.

i just hate it, if i saw a beautiful car parking next to me, i'll be REALLY CAREFUL not to touch it. I always want to keep a distance from other driver on the road, but some people just don't care about their car..........~_~

I reversed in to the wall in very slow speed and see some scatches that cannot be fixed with cut and polish, so I decided to paint it over professionally. It is ok now. The rear bumper tend to get a lot of swirl anyway.

My real damage in the wallet when I do all the mods

Three deep scratches (down to the metal) when manoeuvering past a low brick wall. The scratches were at two heights and the lower one went onto the front wing.

Cost a pretty penny to fix and being entirely self inflicted I didn't have anyone else to blame.

Ian.

Rear-"ended" a 2000 Corolla in I-66 E near Beltway 495 DC.
Total damage = $8359.67 + 2 months estimated repair time + indescribable heartache.
My poor 8

pulling into a driveway and the dip caught my VS D1-GT rear and pulled on it. This busted the holes that bolted it to the car so now it's in the shop, being shaved and having a metal brace installed. For now I ride around with the VS D1-Gt front and sides but the stock rear, it doesn't look to goofy.

Some one hit my car in the parking lot at work. They left a ding on the driver side fender right at the apex of the tire. It's right on that bend in the metal too so I cant pop it out. My car was a month old at the time

FOUR (4) - six to nine inch scratches on the right door (the longest of which is quite deep). One three inch scratch on the trunk, and several small ones on the right front quarter pannel. Did I mention that they were there when I bought it...? I washed it the day after I bought it. And I hadn't been parked near any other cars.

I'm thinking that they used wax to cover it up. I mean, they are the ones who sent me the touch up paint...

Also, I ran over a screw, and had to patch the tire. Nice to know that the tire pressure warning systetm works though.

OK, 1st damage already posted. Now 2nd damage: My kid and his friends were playing in the driveway. My kid takes his friend's bike and rolls it towards the street albeit on the grass. Wouldn't you know it, the bike veers int the driveway, right into the door of the 8. I subsequently spent about 1/2 hour washing the dent, buffing out the scratches. Doesn't look too bad, just a small dent left about the size of a silver dollar. I was a bit upset, but hey, what can you do? Kids will be kids and I guess there are worse things that can happen.
One thing, I'm not going to fix it. It'll stay as a reminder to my kid to be more careful around people's property.
