Exclamation Please Drop Some....Sucky Year....

The new year has already gotten off to a sucky start for me. I have been a a car accident that is going to cost quite a bit of money to fix and out of pocket money.

Also, today I went to court to fight a speeding ticket I got which I was already considering admitting to it just because they offered me traffic school and I would have gotten to keep my lincense but instead today I went in to fight the ticket.

When I went in today the judge said If I admit today now I would have to have my license suspended for 30 days (being that I'm under 18) and of course pay the ticket and she didn't mention anything about Traffic school like the other judge and clerk did. She was already against me from the start...The officer said his piece from memory and repeatedly said my car was a light grey....My car is a Nordic Green he did a pacing check on my speed and the judge pointed out that his speedometer was off by a couple mph from a calibration report thing.

Anyway, long story short, I lost and my license is being held and I paid the ticket and the point(s) will remain on my license. I have school and classes and auditions and alot of things I cannot miss but I don't have a ride my parents are divorced and work full-time. Are there any ideas on how I may be able to get any rights to driving back at all?

Ive paid and everything and not asking for traffic school but I will be screwed not driving and Pilot Season is coming up... Please drop some ideas, Thanks.

well, unless you get a lawyer, I think you are screwed. You can get a occupational license which would allow you to drive to/from work. But those are your 2 legal options, or you could just keep driving and not get pulled over.

I don't want to get on a high horse here, but it sounds like you got what you deserved. I am 33 years old, own a house, married, work full time in a well-paying job, and am having a very hard time justifying whether I can afford to buy an RX-8.

At 18 years old, you are VERY VERY VERY lucky to be driving such a car. You abused that privelige, now stop being a whiney kid and live with the consequences of your actions. I'd be interested to hear what your parents have to say about this?

When you decided to try to beat the speeding ticket you put your license at risk. The upside was that your wouldn't have to pay the ticket. The downside was you would pay the ticket and lose your license.

I would say you made a poor choice taking that risk since you had the option to go to driving school (minor cost), which would let you keep your license for sure and (in most states) keeps the ticket off your record.

You may not understand it now, but even if the ticket was unfair, you need to always look at what you are risking and whether it is really worth the risk.

Welcome to the world of public transportation! You can find the number for Yellow Cab in your local phone book, and start looking out for those bus stops!

hmm, you're gonna get a lot of people coming down on your for speeding and being so young and having an rx8 etc......

I won't do that but will say that if you think this is 'tough', it could be a lot worse. The whole traffic court/judge thing is how life falls. Your life isn't so bad. Sometimes you get lucky other times you don't. if you just learn from this hopefully your many later years will be better.

Dude that sucks, you should've taken door number 1. Anyhow, don't you have any friends that can take turns dropping you off at your desired location? You should ask them. Even if it means you have to get dropped 2 hours early or something. And for school there should be some kind of ride share program you can join up on. Well you can always drive without your license, but considering your latest luck I wouldn't.

Think about this , most of the bad things that happens to people is directly related to their decisions.

Cheers, Beers, and no Tears.

I don't really feel sorry for you either. It's cut and dry, you were speeding, you even said so. By being a typical teen (I was there once too) and playing beat the world, it cost you your license.

Feel lucky, your speed could have cost your life or someone elses. The RX-8 is a thing to be respected and is very powerful for someone having your relatively new driving skills. I am 25 and I thank my lucky stars every day I was able to afford and enjoy one of these. To me the bottom line is this, if you cannot drive responsibly in it (granted I give her hell too...but on a closed or rarely traveled route) you should have your license suspended.

just wanted to chime in and repeat what others are saying. if you're under 18 and you've messed up driving this much already maybe its better for you to not have a license for a while. and a car that you wont speed in as easily. i made some stupid mistakes in cars when i was younger but i still don't want you on the road next to me.
good luck (seriously) with your transportation and whatnot and hopefully this has taught you a few things.

A solo car accident (likely caused by speeding by your own admission) + a speeding ticket all in less than 2 years?

This is exactly the reason I moved out of the Orange County/LA County area.

I have to say that sucks what happened, you could look into possibly getting the occupational license; which the court will more than likely allow. Best way to look at this is to take it as a life lesson, never go into court without an attorney. I have to say congrats on having the RX8 at your age, and to all the people giving you static about it WTF.
You are going to give him crap about having this car at his age, and slam him for speeding, I am sorry but if you own this car, YOU will go a little faster than the posted speed limit, if you don't then sell the 8 and buy a GEO metro. Just curious out of all these people that are slamming you for speeding just so happen to have radar detectors in their cars.

Speeding is illegal, no matter what. However excessive speed with less than 2 years driving experience, is stupid. I look back to those days and think how stupid I really was.

I have been driving for 9 years now and I am still honing my skills at higher speeds. It is something that takes alot of time to work at. Remember, you are driving a 2800 lb missile. I simply cannot believe that someone with such green driving abilities can understand more of the advanced concepts involving car control.

He didn't say how fast he was going, nor do I advice him to post it. Everyone does stupid crap when they are starting out driving, just part of learning. I will give you that speeding is illegal, I just felt like someone had to stand up for this kid cause everyone was jumping on him for either having the car at his age or for GETTING caught at something everyone does. I just did not want to see one of the people on the boards get flamed by people for this, hell the kid admitted to messing up and was just asking for possible suggestions so it sounds like he is mature enough to admit he was wrong just looking for advice.

Heyy thank's for looking out guyz . Yep, all I needed was some advice. Thanks to you cool guyz though I'll definately try the occupational license. I honestly don't drive unless theres somewhere I need to be like school, class, or auditions so I totally could work with the occupational license Thanks man.

Another lesson to be learned here for everyone (since I know soblazin is not the only who has or will ever get a speeding ticket), is that if you intend to fight things in court, you should get a lawyer ahead of time. A friend of the family was arrested for underage drinking, and decided to just show up in court. A subsequent consultation with a lawyer regarding possible expungement resulted in her finding out that the case could have been contested and thrown out based upon how the eveidence was obtained.

the same thing actually happened to me like two or three years ago, i was speeding 60 on a 35 limit zone, i forgot if i was 16 or 17 back then, i just got my license for least than 6 months, so im not suppose riding anybody whoz under 25 in my car, but there was 4 other people that are same age as me when i got pull over, but the cap didnt say any thing about it, he just gave me a ticket!! so i went to court, i was guity, i went to traffic school, i've got my license suspended for 30 days, but me and my mom was like i cant lose my license cause i have to drive to school, and no one is able to drive me to school nor no public transportation can take to to school, then the judge gave me permittion to just drive to school and home in the time range!!
i felt very lucky, it doesnt really real like i've got my license suspended!!

i dont know if you can do the same thing that did right now since you already walked out the court!! anyways, good luck man!!

HAHAHAHAH i cant believe half of you idiots here are trashing him for speeding you crack me up. I say 100% of us here love our 9kredline come on we brag about it for christs sakes! down a residential road you hit the first redline in first gear guess what people you are speeding! holy cow!! i bet thats a shock to your tiny brains. And even if your on a major highway/expressway/freeway and you hit the redline in even second gear guess what?? YES YOU GOT IT DING DING DING!! YOUR SPEEDING!!!! god whether your speeding at 16-17 or speeding at the age of 50 speeding is speeding just because you have more skill or time driving doesnt mean crap we are humans we are not perfect and we make mistakes. So dont go giving someone crap about speeding when your driving sports cars with 9k redlines that you all love to brag so much about. Was what he did stupid?? of course then i guess that makes all of us here stupid unless someone here with an rx8 actually drives the speed limit, and if you do give it to me and ill drive it the way its meant to be driven. Anyway you dont know if he was speeding on a highway which would be in excess of 60mph and dangerous or down a residential road where speed limits are usually under 40. Now to the starter of the thread, of course what you did was irresponsible and you were punished for your actions and took a stupid route of fighting the ticket when you were handed an easy way out and you knew about your situation. They told you take the lessons get out of the ticket keep your license and you could still work. Your choice was either arrogant thinking you could take on a cop and a judge who 95% of the time hate teen drivers or you truly believed you could get out of the ticket, either way public transportation is the only choice you have or the occupational license.

Redline in 1st gear is around 30mph, 2nd about 55-60... maybe clowns like you are redlining in 4th or 5th on public streets, but in Texas, 60 mph is not speeding. Nice try at talking down to people, but you still sound pretty stupid to me.

Dude...in 20,000 years, we're ALL gonna be dust anyways...at that time it won't matter whether you were speeding or not. I say.....screw them all. Live life hard, live life full.......party on!!!

If GoD hadn't meant for us to speed, he wouldn't have made the gas peddle so far away from the floorboard.
