The plan for my RX-8 has been figured out.

Hey All,

When I bought the car I figured that I would not make too many modifications to it, however after reading the boards, spending a week or two with the car I have come to the conclusion that I will never be able to contain myself from making a few slight mods. I really like how the car is stock, it could just use a few small cosmetic changes and a little bit more power.

I do not require a super fast car, just one that can do 0-60 in mid 5 seconds and have a 1/4 somewhere in the 13's -- this would be fine for daily driving -- especially in DC traffic. I like the looks of the RX8 and never considered putting a bodykit on any of my previous cars, but I must say that the Racing Beat body kit is very nice and clean.

Below is the list of modifications I plan to make to my car before I will consider it complete, please feel free to chime in if you think I am missing an easy/cheap mod or with your own opinions.

Interior
  • OEM CD/MP3 Player
  • Custom leather Interior (Black with Blue)

Exterior
  • Clear Corners
  • DLS Customs Side Strakes
  • Painted Calipers (G2 Blue)
  • MazdaSpeed Rear Spoiler
  • Racing Beat Body Kit minus Rear Spoiler

Performance (goal 250whp)
  • High Flow Cat (unsure of brand)
  • Exhaust (unsure of brand)
  • Turbo or Supercharger (unsure of brand)

Handling
  • MazdaSpeed Sway bars
  • MazdaSpeed strut and or tower bars

:D

A/C and oil cooler screens should be first. Boring, but they could save you a ton of money from just one thrown stone.

Sorry to sound like the old fart I am. Enjoy ALL your mods!

Thanks for the input, I will have to add those to the list. I will try to get those done the same time I am painting my calipers. Just need the weather to warm up a bit first.

You can say that again. My 8's been cooped up in the garage for weeks!

Say, if I mail you my calipers will you paint 'em for me? I'm sure not using them! :p

Did you say what color your 8 is? I have a Red, and was going back and forth on what color calipers would be best.

Sounds like a nice list of mods Kewlb...wish I had the money to turbo mine...
Anyhow, I just recently painted the calipers on my titanium 8. Here a link if you want to see how it turned out https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-multimedia-photo-gallery-6/painted-calipers-titanium-grey-54010/page3/

I was looking at the calipers today also and thought they needed a paint job.
Any thoughts on what color you go with on yellow 8, black or chrome?
I still can't believe you didn't take the wheels off to paint them ?!?

Well, I heard that someone else did it without taking the wheels off so I decided, I've got steady hands (I'm a dentist after all, I better have steady hands!) so I went for it. It actually tuned out better than I expected. I think it helped that my winter rims are pretty open and give good access to the calipers.
