Pitted rims? attn:Senseny

Is this what your pitted rims looked like?

Well, I was cleaning my wheels and noticed these little pits....well then I used some really tough degreaser(supposedly clear coat safe) and with a lot of work removed all the "pits"...it seems it was just just brake particle buildup.

I think someone also suggested clay barring. Clay barring seems like just the ticket for brake dust since it actually pulls up material.

Noel, yes, but due to my lax cleaning standards mine are a bit worse--not horribly, just a bit. I felt sure that due to all the elbow grease I put in (however no abrasive cleaners), that this was pitting. However I am relieved that you had good success. I may go with clay barring, but which cleaner did you use, just so I can choose? Also I am going to catch up with Chameleon and get tips from him. Noel, I know I had harsh words for you at a point--I did apologize and still do, and I appreciate that you would post pics so that others will know what I was talking about. Hey, and believe me, I am glad to be wrong and find out for sure that the wheels are not truly "pitted". Thanks man and have a great one.

Hey Senseny, no prob man...I apologize for my harsh attitude...I promised I was going to be better, and I am...I used some Purple Power...you can get it at Autozone, Advance Auto, etc.....I used a small towel and just rubbed the heck out of it...I really was going to try that claybar, but I had this purple power stuff, and it worked....with a lot of elbow grease, though. Hope it works out for for you....

Wow youguys are complaining about those little things? My two rear factory rims have sidewall damage from abusing them w/too many sharp turns at high speeds. They both have this very long scratch on the very outside portion of the rim that you cant hide w/anything. Nothing I cando for that except buy new rims. Luckily they are only noticeable from up close. You think those little spots are bad? Waituntil I get this next roll of film developed and post pics of these scrapes.

Cool Noel, thanks for the advice, Jerky, I was complaining originally not because it was awful and my wheels are ruined, but because the car doesn't have high miles and if the wheels were "pitting" that early, can you imagine them at 50K.
