Picked up a black 05 last night...!!!!!

Contrary to my handle ... I picked up a black 05 with Nav, front -side- and rear skirting, side stakes, front and back rotorery crest, inner door sills,
and a bunch of other options, inner door scuff plates, remote starter/pager, and a few other tid bits.

I have one question that someone may be able to help with.....

I have a X5 4.4 and it drives like I am on a cloud... The Rx-8 has quite a bit of vibration-I can feel it through the gear shifter. I s this normal...?

I used to have a del sol when I was younger and it had no vibration...

Any input would be great.

Welcome to the club, congrats on the RX-8. Always nice to have another owner of a black8! Mine is an '04, same vibration through the shifter. Mine has a pretty rough idle so if you look at my shifter at a light it looks almost like a blender. I consider it a hand massager.

shifter vibration

I have vibration on my shifter too - its less pronounced than on my miata, which was quite noticeable. I think its a mazda tranny thing.
Normal.

In my experience through 3 Mazda's, all RX's, it's a trademark. But good tranny fluid will reduce that a bit...

I picked mine up Wednesday...

Welcome. Mine is a 2004. I notice some vibration I guess, but I do not notice a rough idle. The engine revs silky smooth!

Congratulations on your purchase!

Congrats!!! :D

Totally normal on the vibration. The shifter is attatched directly to the transmission, thats why it vibratates. Almost all cars vibrate a little. You just dont feel it because the engine and transmission mounts absorb the energy. Since your shifter is directly attached to the trans., you see/feel the vibration. As far as your Del Sol is concerned, I think thats a front wheel drive car. The shiftef is cable actuated, not connected directly to the trans. Thats why you didn't feel it vibrate.

Have fun with the ride - its awsome!!

Black is beautiful!
I traded out a black Mits for my rx8.
The most beautiful color when clean--unfortunately clean only lasts 30 minutes in the Northwest so I went to green on my 8.
Welcome to the forum where there are very knowledgable folks.

How much did you end up paying for it, if I may ask? Congrats on the new 8!

Congrats! Good color choice, but as others said - prepare to clean the car often.
