The R in RX-8 stands for rotary, so in my opinion, no.

Since the name implies it has a rotery engine (rotery experiment) it would not be an RX-8. Otherwise I would say yes.

NoTears,

I was hoping the thread would run for a little while before someone picked up on the Rotary in RX because that makes the question a little trickier.

So if you put a Renesis engine in a Hugo, is it still a Hugo?

Curious why would you put the Vette engine in anyway? Put a 3 rotor...much more power...still a Rotary engine...and far lighter than the vette engine and its heavy tranny

Yes... and it would kick ***
(and for the record, a 3 rotor in an FD destroys the balance while a LS1/2/6/7 does not change the balance... and will make more power more reliably and get better gas milage)
