Painted Rotary accent?
Painted Rotary accent?
Hey, I have a red 8 and i have noticed in many of the pictures posted on different threads here that some 8's have the rotary accent below the front grille in red. Mine came in black. Did folks paint it after they got the car?
I think it looks neat in red, but didn't know that it came that way.
Any ideas?
Also, how do the strakes install? An easy job?

I believe you've been looking at RX-8's with the front air dam. The rotary accent is a part of the front air dam (replaces the black bottom thingy that includes the original black rotary accent). The front air dam is painted to match the car, and so, the rotary accent that is a part of it is painted also.
Like, RX-GR8, you have the front air dam...

They screw on to the grille & their ends have double-sided tape.
There's a thread from about 2 months ago that has nice pictures of them unattached, so you can see them laying on a table top, real up-close pix. Happy hunting...
edit: Doh! Moment of confusion - please excuse. That IS the strakes. Dunno about the accents...sorry. My guess is glue...
