Talking Pads, Lights, and an RP Short Shifter

Over the last 24 hours I've had the new front brake pads put on, filmy headlight assemblies replaced, and last but certainly not the least - a Richard Paul Short Shifter now sits in my car.

Pads and lights were warranty work. If any of you are holding off on getting your squeaky pads replaced I was told that there must be a written complaint within 12k miles or they will not be replaced under warranty. May want to keep that in mind. I breezed through with 11,575 miles

My lights actually look crystal clear now. The crap I had on the inside seemed to be spreading by the day.

OK. Richard Paul's short shifter...If you really want to do something for yourself and for your car - GET ONE!

shaolin....I noticed a /discolouration/ on the inside of my headlight lenses. I t was not a specific colour, however the lense was NOT crystal clear. I took my 8 in Monday and complained. About 1 hour later I got a call stating the headlights would be changed under warranty.

I do have Xenons. (before this Q is asked)

I'm having hard hardwater stains build up right behind where where the headlight is sealed to the body, you think they will replace it?

PoLak....I do. My /discolouration/ was slight. To be honest, I felt like the service rep thought I was crazy when I was showing the problem to her!! She was looking at me funny!!

Try it. Why not?

I told my dealer if it gets any worse I'd let them know they documented it. Problem is I LIKE my dealer, dare I say it, acutally would call them cordially and inviting almost friend-like *GASP*, so i don't wanna be a PITA about it... ya know?

I had what I would call a filmy substance on the inside of my light assemblies. It would be akin to spreading a clear oil on the inside of your lenses. I noticed it the first day I had my car. It actually wasn't too bad then, it was just a hazy area at the very top of each lens. Over the past six months it spread from the top of each lens, like it was ALIVE, and was just about even with the hids when I had them replaced. It didn't affect the lighting at night as far as I could tell - It just looked like chit.

My dealership had no problem replacing them. In fact they have been nothing but excellent to me in regards to my 8. It's a shame all Mazda dealerships aren't the same.

Irish - you need to order one of those RP's. It's probably one of the better purchases I've made in my life...I kid you not.

Cam - If you're thinking about the pad replacement you need to let your service folks now so they can document it. And make sure they document it prior to 12,000 miles.

I figured wth...I may as well use these "free" brakes all I can. Like I said I checked in just under the magical limit :D

Concur on the shifter! Received and installed mine yesterday. Nice and crisp shifts, the way it should have been from the factory.

Eh I wouldn't put down Mazda too much of my limited experience in cars in the "class" this is the second best feeling tranny next to the S2000 and as good as it can be without scaring off the "non-enthusiasts"

Too funny. That car is really embarassing. I had stuff to do that day but no way in hell I was going to drive that thing around. I went home instead and parked that thing on the other side of the street - three doors down. lol

I know, I parked it on the other side of my apt. complex.

I should know something today about the brakes. I am probably going to get the "their on back order story, but at least it's documented before the 12000"

Jenkins - I'm going to let the Avis guy know that you put that huge gash/scrape mark on the left side bumper :D

The thing I've noticed most about the short shifter is how much less the rpms seem to drop between gears. Of course thats an automatic "DUH - no kidding" but the difference is amazing, even when you're shifting in slow motion.
