Ahh, RX8_ML, if I wasn't married, and of course if you were 18.

My first trip after getting my RX-8 was about 2000 km, I decided to visit my family which lives quite far away. As someone already said, be careful with the brakes and especially the tires for the first 200 miles. The car may slide pretty much with new tires.

It was fun, altough driving such a long way in a car that you're not used to can be pretty stressful, because you have to think about everything you do (where's that switch, how does this work, etc). With two persons it should be easier though.

Just remember you're breaking in the car, don't rev it beyond 6000 and don't drive too constant speeds.

i see nothing wrong reving beyong 6000 when its new. as long as u get the engine heat up b4 u do the huge revs. my car beep'ed at least 10 times on my first day of driving it (after spending 20 mins of normal driving that is). no probs wat so ever hehe

Well, the engine has only few moving parts and production tolerances are probably high standard, but a few hundred miles with limited revs will certainly not hurt it (nor the driver, who is maybe unaware of the RX-8's power burst beyond 6000 revs).
