That sucks! What, are these cars magnets for idiots? I'm almost afraid to take mine out in public with all the people posting pics of theirs getting crunched. :o Sorry to hear (and see) that.

Look at it this way ,aleast the number 24 sticker didnt get stuck on the side of your RX. i just got my RX8 and have worried for the last two days about something happening to it . I had a new MR2 spyder and was behind this girl in a SUV at a light . she all of a sudden put it in reverse and backed right into me so she could get here nails done at the nail shop on here left. anyway it was $2000 dollars (her problem)and from that experince i do not want it to happen to my RX8. good luck with the body shop.

That stinks zoom. Sorry to see it. At least you have the perpetrator and admission of fault.

This country needs seriously tougher licensing requirements. Like special classes and licenses for anyone that drives a full size SUV or pickup.

Ouch, that looks like it could be expensive, but who cares since you dont have to pay for it. My body shop guy said anything with a crease in it like that is super hard to repair and takes a long time to do it correctly so you dont notice it.

I am always amazed at how many people don't check over the shoulder when they're making a change in traffic or backing out etc. It just can't get any lazier and irresponsible than that.

Sorry about your baby.

Once my friend and I were taking his brothers recently purchased FD for a little spin and we were sitting at a traffic light when some dumbass in a huge SUV blatantly threw it in reverse and proceded to back right into us despite our honking. He claimed he "couldn't see" us down there. God I hate suvs.

Sometimes I want to get a Ford Excursion, raise it about 15 inches with huge off-road gravel-flinging tyres, and purposely drive slowly or recklessly in front of other SUV's...and possibly have a big sign in the back that says: "Drive an SUV? This is what the rest of the drivers on the road see when they're behind you."

ZoomBlack - Sorry to hear about it. See if you can get the insurance to cover a NEW quarter panel. It will be a pain to get, but it might be a better result than a repair on that area. Ask your body shop. And go to the BEST body shop you can, not just some dealer's shop. Pick a shop that specializes in high-end cars. I know from sad experience. My 8 should be back from repair in 2 to 3 more weeks.

I think I understand why so many Rx8's seem to be getting hit. Most of the accidents reported on this board involve a parked Rx8. Other drivers see an Rx8 in their mirror assume a car that looks that fast must be going 80 and will soon be out of their way and so continue to back up. Clearly an understandable mistake.

PS. sorry you car got hit.

I'll never understand to this day why people don't look behind them (not with the mirrors) to back up. I mean you don't see people driving facing the rear of the car and dirving forward do you? :S I wish people would look where they are going...

Sorry about your car, hopefully everything will work out!
