Orange Vs White turn/signal lights
Orange Vs White turn/signal lights
ever noticed how most cars in america has orange turn/signal lights, whilst in europe they are white? is there a law or regulation regarding that?
also, anybody knows where to buy orange turn lights for rx8, they look so much cooler.
p.s. my rex is arriving next week, and this is my first post =)

in the us, almost all states require the front of a car to have some sort of amber reflector while we need red ones in the back. Also, almost all states require us to have amber turn signals too.
ha thats funny. you think orange looks better.
We think white does.
But if you are just looking for bulbs. rx8strakes.com has LED's for that.
But if you want the standard bulb you'll have to get amber corners and the white light typical filament bulb.

I guess it would come down to what color 8 you have but as was said before some of us in the US like the white better.
RX8 Strakes.com has two types of clear corners [side makers] one white and one clear plus the regular "granny" style orange [amber] side makers that you want.
Why?!
Congrats and welcome!

The sidemarker can be either Amber or White. The light in the side marker will depend on the state, but I've heard that there is a national standard for Amber, as it is easier to see at night (or some reason like that). Turn signals are required to be Amber, as far as I know, and you are not allowed to change those.
I know that in NY, there's a segment in the auto laws that says "external lights with the exception of turn signals and tail-lights may be amber or white".

what annoys me, is red signal lights in the back. i am not sure who thought it was easier to see a red signal light Vs a amber one. half the time, i think they are braking, then i finally see catch it blinking (example right turning signal).
Agreed. However, the general color of heavy caution is red, which is why practically all the lights in the rear are required to be red.
If I had to guess I'd say it was more of a cost cutting move versus any safety issues with seeing one color better than the other....
