At Only

Hey are all you guys having the same issue with 1st gear? Its like I put the pedal to the floor and it has to get 5000 rpm before anything happens? If anyone knows how to fix it please let me know.

nvrfalter 10-04-2008 09:29 AM

uh no dude thats the way the car is. shoulda got a mustang, brotha

Renesis07 10-04-2008 09:44 AM

Before I assume youre completely ignorant to the severe lack of torque:

How long have you owned the car?

Has it always been this unresponsive or did it just now start doing it?

If it just started and its ABNORMALLY unresponsive it may need new coils.

When was the last time you changed the coils, plugs, wires?

You have an AT.. it's normal.

What, does it not even move until you hit 5000 RPM? I'd get a doctor to check that shit. "VTEC didn't kick in, yo!"

Razz1 10-04-2008 01:31 PM

Drop the clutch at 5k

Get a flywheel

NgoRX8 10-04-2008 01:34 PM

this is all you need on the back of your car and it will be good to go

7MANNY7 10-04-2008 10:50 PM

I've owned the car for about a month. Love the car. The first initial response was always slow. So I'll check on the plugs and wire's and see what happens.

I meant that it really doesn't have alot of speed on take off.(don't think I explained it correctly the first time)

This is normal for the NA AT. The Renesis doesn't pull power until the secondaries open at about 4250 rpm. Then it will pull a lot stronger. If you really want some low end power do some Nitrous like me. Spin the tires off the line.:Eyecrazy:
Check the Dyno chart below.

04RX8man 10-05-2008 09:41 AM

^ I thought the secondaries opened at 3750rpm but maybe the AT and MT are different i guess they would b with some being a 4 port and some being 6

more == the extra 2 that the 6MT and 6AT have that the 4AT doesn't.

7MANNY7 10-05-2008 12:50 PM

Is there not another option? How about the cobb acc port? I'm trying not to go FI or nitrous.

ShellDude 10-05-2008 01:41 PM

The AP does help with first gear on the 4AT, most definitely. But that's not its big selling point and you'll need a tuner to work with you.
