WOW

Not possible. Either speedo is off or that video was taken on a dyno or something. why the fluctuations in RPMS if it is a top speed run.

Rx-A-Ho 05-14-2006 07:13 PM

Dyno... this has been around a while...

namrag69 05-14-2006 07:13 PM

you don't think the guy could do a 184 mph run on the street with one hand holding the cam. :hahano: :hahano:

Nemesis8 05-14-2006 07:24 PM

That's dmp's car on the dyno

rodrigo67 05-14-2006 07:46 PM

Thats a top speed run in 6th gear on a dyno. Kinda destroys the governor myth, huh?

There is also a top speed run in 5th gear that tops out at 156.

NgoRX8 05-14-2006 08:18 PM

the 8 is drag limited, not governed. on the manual anyway.

You can tell it's on a dyno from the sound.

You forgot to add - with the door open and no seatbelt on. Look at the indicator lights on the dash.

redcivic 05-15-2006 01:50 PM

Good eye guys. Good attention to detail. That is an example of how dyno's are not exactly accurate and is why if you dyno tune you should pick a dyno and stay with it, otherwise your baselines will be off.

lol
Doesnt have to be a dyno tho..... lol you could always jackup ur car and just rev forever.. tho it is still quite amazing that the car would be able to do that if we lived in a vacum with zero negative friction. mmmmm....
180mph? mmm.....

Genom 05-16-2006 04:19 PM

Dunno why people still think the car has a governer. Way back in the day I had mine on the dyno a couple months after buying it and we did the same and I got it to 175 before I backed off, and posted about it often.
