in the old days...

wanted to find my old paperwork on my rx-7 (see said it with the R this time)...just call me mx for short.

1980 rx7 gs model solar gold 5-speed manaul (wonder if they even did autos back then). cost new, well at least on the paper they put on the window was $8,985. Of that it cost $295 for the sunroof and $295 for the aluminum wheels.

seems like a great deal now. wonder what the price comparison would be in 'todays' dollars on current rx-8 pricing. guessing less now.

anyone know, quickly what the last year for the rx-7 was before the changed the body style from what the 1980 model had.

also, wonder if many of them are still around.

Well, the base MSRP on my 94 RX-7 was $36K, $38265.00 after options. The total MSRP on my 82 GSL RX-7 was $12xxx.00

That specific body style stopped in 1983. It then had some tweaks for the 1984 and 1985 editions.

I believe in 1981 they went from the metal bumpers to the plastic covered type. It was still an FB. In 84 & 85 you had the option of having a fuel injected 13B (130 HP) instead of the carburated 12A (100 HP) engine. 1985 was the last year for the FB.
I sold my 85 a year ago. There aren't very many running anymore.
