Yes, as long as you do not paint the calipers red.

If the car senses a crappy, ricey, brush-painted caliper paint job, it has been designed to leap off the jackstands and fall onto a sword.

You've been warned.

if you put the car on jackstands with out tires it will become confused.

it will jump off the jackstands, and the calipers will separate from the rotors..

causing a very easy brake change.. but lots of other broken stuff..

beers

make sure you put the jack stands on the correct points at the corners of the vehicle..if not...you may do some damage to the unit body...

Make sure you drill the jack stands into the cars frame, or it will fall off.

Actually the ECU will program itself and go into limp mode.

Then you won't be able to drive over 25 mph.

It's in the mechanics service manual.

Yes, but after a couple of days the tires will get lonely, and send the TPMS sensors out as a search party to locate the car.

I've been told that the TPMS search parties eventually emit a focused EMP field that destroys everything electronic within a 1 mile radius.

The self-destruct and Apex rumors you're reading about are a perfect example of people taking a completely legitimate activity, ie TPMS EMP, and distorting it as it goes from person to person.
