OK everyone HELP (please)

This is my first post and at this point in time i DO NOT own an RX-8 though I am searching for the right one. I am big into racing and I race in the ITS class in the SCCA so I'm into performance and handling.....not to mention something i can turn into a race car when it's paid off. My question is why should I get an RX-8? I read the satisfaction thread and it seems promising. How reliable is the rotary motor, how far can you go with mods in regards to engine if you wanter to and is the rotary more expensive to work on? These are some of the questions I have and anything else you can think of will help greatly.
