it is official...my 8 is a P.O.S.

ok well I got a 2004 rx8 in august or september of 2004 and since then I have been to the dealership literally every 2 to 3 months because of some problem. I have gone through 2 sets of tail lights, one radiator and twice I had the hoses replaced, my break rotors broke in half, my passanger window does not go down, I have had 2 intake manifolds replaced, and this is the funny part I have had 2 renesis mortos in less than one year and about to be on the thrid and my trunk does not open.... Everyone at the service department knows my family by there entire name which is horribly sad because we are there so much. everything that has been replaced mazda payed for and I payed for labor. I will be selling the car which sucks cuz its soooooo sexy or ill dropp another motor in it because its the main problem. I dropped my car off earlier this week and the service rep told me the are flying in a tech. from japan to look at my car and fix it or try to. I even get to meet this guy friday at noon. I'm just annyed as hell.

holy ****, I got tired reading that. commas are your friend.

You shouldn't be paying for labor as said above.

I hope they can find the problem. Maybe you got a lemon. check your lemon laws and get a new 8!

Sounds like BS to me but if it isn't, why are you paying for labor? If that is the case, the bill for the tech from Japan should be a huge one!!!!!

nope didn't purchase an extended warrenty, I would have payed almost as much as what the car is curently worth in the kelly blue book. I just read the lemon law for my state and from the looks of it I can get a new car or get a full refund since mazda has not been able to fix the problem : )

Not to sound insensitive but man it sucks to be you.

You do realize that your experience isn't the norm, actually I never heard anyone having so much problems with any car, nevermind the 8.

Good luck though, sorry to hear about your probs.

Wonder if the tech will point a finger at the problem quickly.
Just don't be standing in the line of fire of the finger.

I'm not pointing my finger at youngen here but there are some people whose mere presence can cause a car to literally fall to pieces.

I would actually like this tech to point his finger at me. I've babied the hell out of this car, never missed a tune up or oil change everthing has been done on time or early.

Anyone else ever have their dealerships fly in techs from Japan?? This sure sounds... fishy.

I don't know about that one. Many of us have put hundreds of miles and more on our RX-8s at the track on OEM brake rotors with siginificantly more aggressive pad compounds and no one has had that happen.

That is a really long paragraph and as I struggled to read to in order to understand the ideas and thoughts you were trying to convey I came to the inescapable conclusion that I am getting much older now and should probably go and have my eyes checked just like wife told me to do ever since I have been complaining of daily tension headaches so I think I will follow up and listen to her wise advice and make an appointment with my eye doctor as soon as I can catch a break from work which has really been a bitch lately for reasons that are far to complex and convoluted to even begin getting into here even though I really want to and even though things may be slowing down somewhat in the near future which would really be good because I am sick of working 55 hours a week and want to enjoy the nice weather we have been having which I can't do when I'm stuck working till 7 pm every night.

2 sets of tail lights? Why?
2 sets of hoses? Why?
I've never heard of brake rotors breaking in half. The only conceivable way that could happen is to slam the wheels into a curb at 90 MPH.
2 intakes? Exactly what broke or wore out on a static piece of metal with no moving parts?

Sounds to me like a dumptruck full of BS or a car that has been consistently abused. But at least Mazda is spending a couple grand to fly a tech in just to look at your car (I think I see pigs flying....).

My $0.02,
Rotario

the car wasn't designed or built in the united states. If reasonable that if the techs here can't solve it, they might have to ship in someone who knows more about the car than what's in the repair manuals.
