OEM Hood Pond

The OEM Hood Pond is an awsome feature that is in all the 04+ models.

on rainy days, the hood builds 2 little ponds that stay filled even while driving!!
(Wish I had pics, but Im sure all of you know what im talking about)

i'll post pics... or somebody else post pics if you have any.

.......... yeah, random.

I have that feature too. It's fun to watch them dance around on the hood; almost being sucked away only to reach vacuum again and settle in.

I thought i was the only one who found that interesting. The water just dances back and forth. I wonder how fast you'd have to go to get that water to move off

Probably can't go fast enough. The faster you go the more you'll build up a high pressure dead pocket right where the hood meets the windshield. It the premise that cowl induction uses to create a high pressure intake. I suppose if you built a cowl induction intake you could suck the water off...

I've noticed that too while on the highway in the rain! I've tried to get the pools to blast off, but haven't had any luck yet

Unfortunately mine seem to like to fill up, then overflow into the defroster intake which immediately fogs my windshield when they hit.

Oregon rain can be tenacious.

Yeah um, I go to a twisty road, and make sure the water doesn't fall off. You gotta love that water in a cup technique. So yeah, i'll go and pull a Takumi, it's awesome haha.

Lake Mazda. Installed at no extra charge.

The '67 corvette had the same pools on the hood. It was fixed in '68 with 2 very small holes

I bought my car on a rainy day (smart move...i know).

That was one of the first things i noticed when in left the lot! I found it somewhat amusing the way that they water indecisive on it's direction due to the clashing dynamic physics when the cars in motion.

I personally think it's pretty cool. Everyone that rides in the front seat always mentions something when it's raining

Ive read that buying your car while raining really helps you with bargining because the sales people know that if you are shopping in the rain you are extreamly interested and are looking for a car asap to not wait for a sunny day.

And I too love the flowing puddles. Someone should make that into a wmp visual.

i love the puddles, but even more less significant is have you ever started driving with a dry car but then it starts to rain on the highway but you notice the rear never gets wet but the front does ^^ i'm very simple minded and i like it how that it proves that slipstreams do exist :-p

Its even better if you sell the car in the rain and you have many dents that are hidden.

In my case it was ironically NOT so good though. My car had a chip/flake straight from the factory which I couldn't see when i bought it.

Not that it mattered anyway, because they had it send to a body shop to be professionally redone.

But still...it is true that almost EVERY car's paint can look flawless in the rain. Especially a car without much wax...it'll look smooth. How ironic.

I like to just pour water on my hood...then drive 90 mph towards a curb towards a random person....then slam on my brakes at the last minute.....the people freeze in fear....except instead of dying they just get a little wet
