ODD 2006 RX8 Malfunction

Folks, have a bit of a quandry on my hands. I came home today and turned off my car and headed in. A few hours later I came back out and my stereo was still on. I went in my car and the KEY was flashing, with the ingition in the off position. The keyless entry doesn't work now and the System seems to think the key is still in the ignition. I've dinked around a bit on it but can't find anything that would indicate what's wrong.

Now, with the radio won't turn fully off (as in I can power it off but the time etc is still showing), but that doesn't seem to be a huge issue. Not great, but I can limp until I can get it fixed. I've verified the fob does work with the emergency button, but I can't unlock the trunk, doors, or lock the doors. I can lock the car with the key.

Any ideas?

Try disconnecting the battery and then reconnect

Figured it out

Folks, in case this hits you I figured out what worked for me. So... For no particularly ascertainable reason, the car thought the key was still in the ignition. The car would lock manually, but not via the fob. Moreover, the radio would remain on, although I could power it off, the remote on for the amplifiers would remain on.

I spent over an hour trying contact the WORTHLESS LEE JOHNSON MAZDA in Kirkland, WA. No dice.

This morning I went to start my car, and it was dead. At this point, I was highly pissed and was willing to tear apart the entire electrical system to figure this out. I got a jump and got the car started and dug in.

The fuse panel in the driver compartment I'd gone through to perhaps remove the circuit for the radio, and hence (or so I thought) the amplifiers. That is a 7.5AMP second down from the Top. HOWEVER, that does not turn off the amplifiers so your still screwed. I reviewed every circuit there and no luck.

Next stop, pop the hood.

Played with those for a couple of hours and no dice.

FINALLY.... With the machine running, I pulled the 15 AMP fuse for the ignition WHILE THE CAR WAS RUNNING (right below the big 30 amp fuse). This tripped the circuit completely and the car shut down. I replaced the fuse and restarted the car. Then shut the car back down. PROBLEM SOLVED.

As it turns out there was a circuit that wouldn't completely shut down and forcing the circuit closed was the fix.
