Nah, I'd say that's just about the norm...

Wow, and I thought my full wash/wax/leather treatment every weekend was obsessive! Guess I'm the slacker...

legokcen Apr 21, 2004 06:35 PM

Thanks for reminding me, its time for her daily wash now....

You're right, I do wash this car a lot more often then my others. I just don't like seeing it dirty. I usually guage it by the brake dust on the front wheels, when they get bad, it's time to wash. So far, I haven't let her go more than a week without a wash.

I wash and wax my baby at least once a month. I wash it every week when weather permits and I detail the inside completely using q-tips and all every other week. I love this car.

Mistryl Apr 21, 2004 06:54 PM

wow....once a month for me....but then again, i only get to drive it on the weekends when i get back home...and even then, only about 50 miles

mikeb Apr 21, 2004 07:33 PM

dont even talk to me about obessive / compulsive

Outlaws eXtreme Apr 21, 2004 07:35 PM

Personally it's just a nice car for me still. If it was a $100k car, I'd prolly take care of it better. I only wash it like 1 every 2 weeks if that.

stanfordcole Apr 21, 2004 09:08 PM

Yeah it gets a full wash once a week and then a spray off one more time during the week to wash all the pollen off. That stuff is awful this time of year in NC.

Omicron Apr 21, 2004 09:52 PM

I can't let it go more than a few days after it gets dirty.

Right there with you, JMurphRX8.

I'm surprised Sanguine Dark hasn't jumped on this thread :D

Regular wash once a week, full inside cleaning and detailing every 2 weeks and 2 coats of Zaino every 4 weeks.

Carry a car duster too for the mornings that everything ISNT soaked with dew.

LBrx8fan Apr 22, 2004 12:13 PM

Hard to define "normal", but with a car like this, I think we all understand the love affair!!

English Apr 22, 2004 08:03 PM

2-3 times a week....specializing in different parts of the car each time to keep it all-over clean.

picosrx8 Apr 22, 2004 10:20 PM

I am forcing my wife to read this!!!!She thinks Ive lost my mind because I have a Saturday morning ritual where I spend half the day cleaning, polishing, dusting, vacuuming, ect. Im just glad I got a color that blends well with dirt. If I had got the black, Id be like the rest of you psychos!:D

zoom_gator Apr 22, 2004 10:36 PM

I haven't gotten my 8 yet (first week in May -- can't wait!), but I hope I do a better job of cleaning it then I do my current car (don't ask!). I'll just have to get my behind out of bed early on Saturday or Sunday morning to clean the car .... (I have two kids ... I try to sleep as "late" as they do on the weekends).

Ooooh, you guys are going to hate my car when you see it......

Anyone got pointers on how to clean stainless steel 'Borla' tips that have been thru 10k of a salty Canadian winter, with not a wipe from a rag?

Is it OK if I still post here, now that I'm officially a pig?

I ran into a new '8 owner at the dealers, and he looked over my car with the comment that I must have "just come back from a rally or a hellacious road trip".......yeah.....thats it.....a road trip!

With 10 coats of Zaino on my car, my nightly ritual in my garage:

1. California Duster the entire car.
2. Dust off the wheels (using the small california duster.
3. Clean the windows/mirrors using Stoners, paper towel
and then buff with newspaper.
4. Clean the exhaust tips with the used paper towel from
the windows.
5. Use the Z6 detail spray (if needed)

total time = 15 minutes each night. The only time I have to wash the car is if I get caught in rain, which here in Florida is not too often. My car NEVER leaves home dirty. It's like the Batmobile never leaves the Batcave dirty - LOL.

Navybeardbb Apr 23, 2004 01:39 AM

I actually do have OCD, trust me pressing the lock/unlock key five times before i start the car, or turning the door handle to my house 3 times isn't a gift i'll tell you!

niadvance Apr 23, 2004 06:05 AM

i have seen zaino mentioned multiple times on this site and checked out their site and see it says it is a "polish". do you wax then put this stuff on or does it act like a wax?

niadvance Apr 23, 2004 08:23 AM

guys ignore my last post. i took a good look at the zaino site and figured out the answer to my question and ordered products. let you know how i like it.

zyran Apr 24, 2004 04:18 AM

I think people with OCD are awesome. Have you seen Monk? Okay, so it is not real but its still interesting watching these people.

Navybeard, I'm not making fun of you or anything but, could you stand seeing something not right or messy?
