Wow, a lot of former Prelude owners (I'm one too). I concur on most everything you said. I think the RX-8 improves on the Prelude in just about every respect. It's not much of a difference in a lot of ways. The Prelude doesn't have a lot of low end power (RX-8 seems to have slightly more in my opinion) so I was used to that. The RX-8 handles far better, but any 7 year old car will feel sloppy in comparison to a new car. The rwd is the kicker though.

well, i can't really make much comparisons coz my old car was a civic :p

so yeh.... just about everything is better, especially handling and acceleration on 2/3 gears. but somehow i think the civic has much smoother transmission change from 1st to 2nd gear..... maybe its coz of my inexperience. only owned the car for 2 days :p
