Normal Brake Wear

Hello,

My car is at a service shop right now because my brakes are making noises for the past month. My car is at about 65K miles. I have changed my front brake pads once at around 30K miles. I have never touched the rear brakes. The shop just called me and informed me that I need new front brake and rotors. He said that the rear is fine and the pads have about 75% left. Is that normal? I know that the front brake do most of the work, and it is noticeable by the amount of brake dust on the wheels compared to the rear wheels. Basically, what I am asking is if it is common to have the rear brakes last that long. At this rate, the front pads will be changed about 4-5 times before the rear's first service. Also, is there a specific rotor size or type that I must get? I know that pads are pads, and as long as I get a premium one, I am fine. All I know is that the RX-8 has sport tuned brakes, but I don't know what that entails. Thanks.

I'm the exact opposite and am relatively low in the rear at 10k. Fronts are perfectly in line with normal usage.
