No more 8, but I got a 6

It's been more than a year since I sold our '04 rx8, which was a terrific, fun car. In only 32k miles I got to enjoy 2 catalytic converters, a second set of brakes, new engine mounts, and an entirely new engine! And got to ride in three tow trucks! Zoom-zoom!

Well, last week I sold our "family car," my '99 Acura TL, and after some serious shopping, came home with an 09 Mazda6 Grand Touring with 15k miles. It's got some serious bells and whistles, including heated side mirrors with blind spot indicators, 3 presets for drivers seat and power adjustments for passenger (both heated, of course), three settings for Xenon light angles plus fogs, Bose sound, sunroof, Bluetooth (love the way incoming calls ring into the sound system and allow you to answer with a push of a steering wheel button), rain-activated windshield wipers, keyless entry with a little door-handle button to lock, and push-button keyless start.

I don't know why you don't see more of these around -- maybe depreciation? I bought mine from a dealer for $19.5 -- about a 30% drop from sticker with 2 years left on the bumper to bumper warranty.

Not a track car, for sure, but it's proving to be a great family car and commuter -- I got the 4-cylinder for the 20+ city mileage.

Congrats on the car man. I honestly love the whole mazda lineup. The new 3's are absolutely sexy in my opinion and I am really loving the new 6's.

I got my daughter a first year ('03) Mazda6 for the same reasons. Great bang for the buck and the up-trim GT options are really nice looking (my recently added OEM RX-8 rims helped a lot too!). Four banger as well and she gets great gas mileage, yet cruises effortlessly. She recently lost half of the sport muffler, but that's been about it so exceptional reliability.

She also lost the passenger's side-skirt last Winter, which I also replaced, but similarly didn't remember hitting anything. Women drivers!
