No CEL despite BHR Midpipe and AEM CAI

This always intrigued me as to how my CEL never went on despite not having a CAT and having the Intake. I searched around but haven't found any clues so I just moved on and forgot about it. More so because I have the Cobb Accessport along with the awesome service of Mazdamaniac. Well now its time to get my NJ inspection so now I'm searching about it again.

Now my question is when they plug in the OBDII, will it throw any codes despite me having the tune? (On a side note if anyone has any explanation as to why my CEL never went on, please do let me know)

Jeff blocks the CEL from the midpipe in his tuning that's why. If you returned your car back to the stock tune and took the accessport out then the CEL would pop up within a week.

I don't know about NJ but here in AZ, with the Mazdamaniac tune you can pass emissions without a cat because all they do is plug it in, check for CEL's and readiness flags then you're set to go. No sniffer test or anything for my car at least.

The CEL isn't on because MM turned the related codes off when he created the tune. The code will not show up on an ODB reader if you are running the MM tune.

I'm aware the CEL would turn off with the MM tune but the thing is even with the stock tune my CEL never went on which is the weird part. Maybe I didnt drive it long enough without the tune for it to come on. As far as the inspection goes, I'm gonna ask around to see if they do the sniffer test here, I can't remember clearly if they did that when I had my other car inspected a few months back.

Don't know what year your car is but I recall Jeff mentioning that some of the 04 and 05 models wouldn't throw a catalytic efficiency code for having a mid pipe installed.
He did not know why.

I'm not sure why you think having a aem intake would throw a code? You should be fine there no need to mask a cel with that mod.

I would like to buy the world a coke.

Mine is an 05 so that's probably what it is then. Also, on the intake I believe I've read some people here get a code after the install (could probably just be me misreading their post and they did something wrong with installation...... please do correct me if I'm wrong) and I know its a different car and what not but my b14 SER threw a code with my JWT pop charger (short ram).
