Brilliant!..

All I need now is somone who can give me an example of what those colours actually look like...

Particularly the difference between silver and titanium...

IE... Is this 2002 RX-7 Spirit R:-

http://membres.lycos.fr/rxmazda/av004.jpg

Titanium?? If not, what colour is it?

It's not a bad colour! I like a darker colour, but I think this car needs a colour light enough to show off the lines around the rear screen.

I see two different versions of the car, with options listed. Looks like a "base" model with 16", 5spd, 190hp and an upscale model with 240hp, 6spd, 18" wheels.

We Have Sunroof!

Of the options - schiebedach is german for Sun Roof, folks. Leder is leather, pack is literally luggage - I doubt that is a luggage rack, though. Perhaps fold-down rear seats? (This could be wishful thinking on my part...)

So what this is saying is:

2 main versions, 192HP and 240HP

192HP is 5-speed, halogen lamps, 16" wheels, base price under what translates to $26,700.

240 HP is 6-speed, xenon, aluminum pedals, better brakes, includes Bose sound system and "Pack" options, base price under what translates to $33,000.

Options:
Bose sound: $700 (included in 240HP vers)
Sun Roof: $800
Leather: $1600
Navigation: $2500
"Pack": $800 (included in 240HP vers)

Ah, missed the details at the bottom. Pack is just a value package with: climate control, 18" alumunim wheels, fog lamps, and "stronger brakes". The leather package includes heated adjustable seats

Colors are:
grace green
black
red
yellow
titanium
silver
blue pacific

Similar-named colors are used on the mazda6 - the titanium color is a grey, the blue and green are both pretty dark.

Okay, a better website to use to see all of these colors on the new mazda6 is:

Assuming that number is right, it's a 4% decrease from the estimated available horsepower. What's the big deal? That honda is estimating the S2200 to have 250HP? Sounds familiar.

Anyway, after looking at the sheet, 6-speed version with sunroof in pacific blue looks right up my alley. Don't really need leather, though it is tempting. Have to see what the final pricing is like, and what availability and my budget are like, too. Still, looks pretty good.

Oops. It seems as if I added the s2000 to my list because of the 240 hp thing.

I made that decision a while ago.

Anyhoo - We all have tons of time to decide.

Mmmm... titanium grey would be nice.

240 HP, 250 HP... doesn't matter to me. I doubt many people could tell the difference in seat-of-the-pants tests. Then again, different places could get the RX-8 in different states of tune.

I also wonder if we'll get the same option packages?

We're all greatful for the info, setpixel!

So let me get two things straight:

1) Sunroof!!!!!! :D :D :D
2) For $800 extra on the base model, you can get the top level model's better brakes, 18" wheels, foglights, and climate control? That, my friends, is the deal of the century! If true, that makes the base model very enticing:
- You can avoid the leather interior
- Upgrade the stereo to something better than Bose, and not have the headache of dealing with a Bose uninstall/upgrade

If the horsepower difference bothers you, for the money you save, you can put it towards a turbo later, and have the 5-speed transmission. Most people who have turbo'ed a Miata prefer the 5-speed over the 6-speed, because the shifts come too fast with the closer ratio 6-speed (the darn turbo spools up too quick!)

Hmmmmm... something to think about considering the large price difference between the two models. It'll all depend on whether our prices/packages are similar here, and if there is more stuff the top-level RX-8 comes with that isn't listed (like roll bars, different suspension, etc.)

Titanium grey: the farthest car down the line. I *think* its metallic.

That looks good,, It might be a bit dark for my purpose... (I want to highlight the rear lines around the rear screen... Light colour against dark border to the glass)

But I'll have to look more closely...

I think that's the same colour as the Spirit R photo's I posted... you think?

http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forum...s=&threadid=68

Oh, that's a thing of beauty... with a Renesis in it... it would be perfect... oh man!

I bet the titanim grey is identical to the titanium grey offered on the 2002 Miata special editions. Here are some pics, although none of them look like the Titanium greys I've seen in real life:

Thanks Rich,

I think it might be light enough... I don't want a really bright silver.. so that might be the way to go.

Slightly confused at the table. Is the table set up so that if you want a certain option, you have to get the other ones that are dotted in? Or is that just temporary for the first production runs?

If the "stronger" brakes are the red calipers on the Spirit R I will be in heaven and while I'm asking give me the rims too (but in 18"), on a black rx-8 with six speed and sunroof with power windows and locks, thats it. Unless you are gonna release the MPS version within the year then I will take that the same but with a big fat turbo and intercooler upfront. Mazda please be listening!

maybe I'm being a dumba$$...

...but doesn't 240PS = closer to 250HP or does 240PS = less than 240HP? I thought there was a slight difference in PS to HP.

Go on, what DOES "PS" stand for... it's all bull anyway since a horsepower is only somone's estimation based on the average pit pony!... Kw is much more sensible.. even though I still think in BHP.
