Well, my 8 is at the Mazda dealership due to a flood issue. I've been a previous 7 owner for many years. Anyways, I've been looking at spark plugs and as we can all agree, Mazda wants a left arm for theirs I've seen prices as low as 80 a set here and have ordered from Mazsport already. They ones I received from them were fine but Mazda Canada is saying that they don't want to look at my car unless its the laser platinums (7C and 9B) Their is a possibilty that the compression is low and the car is still within the 5 year, 100,000 kms warranty. So today, I got hold of a general auto store today who will be ordering me a set of the recommended plugs. Now I don't want to get into naming the company where I am not a retailer, but the price they are quoting is $28.50. I figured this was each. WRONG!! They are asking for a pack of 4 for $28.50. So I've ordered 2 packs of each plug type.

our plugs call for iridium, not platinum.

 

And for the price, I would think they are the wrong ones, but they have the same part number as the ones in all the threads, and even match with NGK's website. Everything looks right, but I'll have to wait until they get here.

I made a mistake with the laser platinum. The NGK site says laser iridium.

 

let us know when you receive these plugs and verify that they are indeed the OE-spec ones for the 8. PM me the name of the vendor/store that gave you that price if you don't want to openly reveal them. thx.

Well, I haven't been here in a week or so but the car is now running. I'm a little dissappointed that it was a little over 3 hrs labour.... and the air filter had to be changed. I'm getting a compression test done on Thursday to see if it will need a new engine. There is no explanation as to why the car flooded. As for pricing the plugs, the guy at the vendor made a mistake. It said 28.50 for 4 plugs. Now what it should say is you have to buy them in packs of 4 (7c or 9T) at 28.50 per plug. Now I got them for 28.50 per pack because it was their mistake. Luckily I have some spares now but I won't be able to get that deal again.

 

theres a set of leading and trailing plugs @ 50 bucks on ebay right now, it has 4 days till it ends. or 12 bucks for each from mazport
I should of waited for this auction instead of jumping on 2 leading splugs for 35 bucks
