Newbie to the RX-8 Club

Hi,
I just sold my 94 Camaro and I pick up my 2004 Mazda RX-8 on Monday at the Credit Union and can't wait to take if for a spin in the mountains. I opted for the Auto trans because I spend alot of time in school traffic and because my girlfriend doesn't know how to drive a stick yet. Can anyone give me any pre~tips on how to operate the Paddles? I'm sure I'll figure it out by reading the manuals but I have 2days worth of waiting and love this site.

Thanks ....Matt

I'll be changing Avatars once I pick up my RX.

I'm sure you've already read that the performance from the manual is much better than the auto. Regardless your gong to love the fell of this car she handles far above than most vehicles on the road. I too once owned a cammaro and the 8 drives circle around it. She's all about top end and maintaining momentum at higher speeds. Don't expect breath taking torque especially from the auto but you'll again be blown away at the handleing characteristics. Can't tell you much about the paddles never drove the auto. Make sure she's had all the recall done on her.

Get the manual. Trust me.

Also, the 8 handles better, but don't expect it to have any straight line acceleration. Your camaro stock would blow away the 8, and the LT1 has much more power potential than the Renesis does right now. If you're looking for a stylish daily driver that handles well, you've found it. Just don't expect it to be fast.

Thanks for all the feedback. I had a Red Z28 T-Top. My dad helped me buy it and after a year now, I've found its just not what I wanted. One test drive in the RX-8 and i was sold!! Another long conversation with my dad and I talked him into helping me get it.
