hey everyone,im up here in alaska and just ordered my car threw the dealer [not online] from his allotment of 10 cars on june 6th.only 2 of these cars were pre sold units and we went to his computer and found the one that had the lowest eta build date that he could still change color and options.the eta build date was may week 1 but this is june week 1.after submiting changes it took only 5 minutes before the car was now changed from red to blue with only gt package and accent package[the car had some other options that we took off]anyway his computer now shows my car with my name and color etc with no vin # but still shows a eta build for may week 1.my question is what were the eta build dates of your cars that were pre-orders from severel months ago?do you think this car will be the second batch?my dealer said that there first cars will be here july week 2 or 3 and mine by august week 2.after reading this forum im now leary that it may be much longer than that and may have to settle for getting one from his first batch they may not be the color or have the options i want.any feed back from you folks is appreciated,thanks.

the first batch cars are already on the water. so the car you have chosen will not be on the ship. we have not heard when th enext ship(s) will be leaving . so when the second batch arrives-your guess(or your dealer's) is as good as anyone's right now.

I asked my dealer for the latest update on my car, including its status, ETA, VIN #, etc. But he does not have any idea and told me that he won't have any information until the car has been built. Is there any other way (besides asking the dealer) to get info on my car?

thanks for the info,my dealer talked to mazda today and said they should have a vin for mine soon and these dealer allocate cars are still on line for mid august.could have been a line of bull but i guess ill just be patient.the dealer also has a yellow car and a black car with mt and gt package that arent sold that he got vins for today so if worse comes to worse i can choose one of these but i really like the blue.

My original build date (back in Feb) was April/Wk 1. I am in the first pre-order allocation. Later (about a month ago) I think it was changed to May/Wk 1. It was actually built 5/23. Many dealers getting these first preorders have been trying to tell us mid-July, June, even some were telling some May back in April. Now it appears that late June - mid July is the reality. If he had a preorder with an original build date of May/Wk 1 - it's probably delayed about 6 weeks, which puts it to ... about now... then it has to wait for a full shipping flock of RX-8s to join it on a boat - about late August - early September seems reasonable as an estimated (my estimate) arrival time.
