newbee intoducing myself

Hi Guys and gals
dont know weather this is in the wright place could'nt see a newbee section if I can't see for looking I do apolergise in advance, anyway dont own a rex at the minute but I am thinking of getting one I would like to hear from all of you about the pitfalls about owning one. Oviously I know they are thirsty but someone told me you get 18 mph weather you flaw it or nurse it, surly this cannot be true my main travelling will be to work on b roads but no traffic so no stopping and starting, also I know about the oil useage but not the quantity's does it go so much oil per tank of fuel? have there been any improvments to the car? as they have been in production for quite some time if yes what year as I am not in the market for a new or nearly new one I did hear about flooding but already read the fix for that on hear, which model should I go for my heart says the 231bhp version not so much for the extra bhp but the extra kit you get on it, is an import a no no? I had an mx5 import (Eunos Roaster) and found it better than the UK as regards speck with no ishue's about serviceing and parts? what road tax can I exspect? and lastly insurance I know post codes vairy the price but I am 54 years old with full no claims with one SP50 I pay under £300 sorry to go wittering on but at the moment I drive a 55 plate Hyundai 2.0 coupe and love it but have had it for 4 years so just fancy a change without shelling out a lot of money but if I change it and get a load of greif from the car in turn I will get a load of greif from her in doors. I do love Mazda's having owned a new 323f, second hand mx5 and a new 3 2.0 sport so would like to come back over to another Mazda pefrable an RX8 If you could try and answer most of my questions I promise to keep my next post shorter
