Welcome to the addiction....1st off please add your location...
glad you decided to go with the 8 nothign wrog with the rotary, usually the only reason ppl talk against it is because they have no clue how or why it works. To avoid flooding just be sure to let it warm up before you turn it off....basically when the temp needle has moved a few lines you're safe...
Yes there is a warranty for 8yrs 100,000 miles so I guess that's 160,000 km....

^he is talking about if the car is COLD as in backed it out of the garage to wash it and want to shut it off right away! SUPPOSEDLY if you rev it up to about 3k rpms let off throttle and shut off so it revs down and releases all the "excess" fuel injected at startup out the exhaust ports and will keep it from flooding but trust me once you start driving it you'll just learn and ENJOY to take it for a drive around the block to warm it up before shutting it off...
also as long as all the PCM reflashes are done it is SUPOOSED to take care of the flooding issures but I personally wound't trust it!....best way is to make sure the coolant temp needle has move a few lines/notches before you shut it off...
oh and like someone said above...PICS OR IT DOESN'T EXHIST(when you get it of course!)

the throttle comment.... explain
The procedure is described in the Quick Tips book.
If you drove it and it's warmed up, just turn it off.

You in Canada? You may want to invest in a new battery... stock one sucks in cold weather 35R optima... you'll have no issues. Also get the updated coils and spark plugs. also wires.

Blizzak's are the best winter time IMHO!!!!...and personally I'd use your stock wheels for winter and find a nice set of aftermarkets for summer with some good gripping tires!!!!!!

LOL, Everyone says "Flooding"
My 07 has never, ever flooded. (Before or after supercharging)
I have had hard starting with some fouled plugs once. (new plugs ended the issue)
Change the oil every 3000 miles, change the plugs at the first sign of hard starting.
Running fouled plugs will kill the coils.

Should have come with the car...but if you bought used you're lucky to get the owner's manual...or even the jack and other loose parts.
US owners can sign up at mazdausa.com, and get access to pdf versions of the owner's manual and quick tips. Don't know if that works for Canadians. If it doesn't, PM me with your e-mail and I can send you the one I've got for my '06. It's a little over 1 MB.
