NEW RX-8 Owner - General Questions
I am average 20 mpg on my new 2007 RX-8 with mixed city/hwy. Is this good?
Has anyone done any research into gasoline blends put out there by major vendors such as Shell V-Power, Cheveron, Exxon, Walmart's Murphy Oil or anything else?
I heard that Murphy Oil for sure blends all there gas with 10% ethanol even there 93 octane blend. This would cause a decrease in performance, especially my 0-60...anyone looked into whether or not Shell is doing this?
What is the best sound upgrade from the 6-CD Changer, an Ipod adaptor? Has anyone looked into HD Radio?
Lovin my RX-8 just one downfall, a really annoying rattle coming from the headlight column bar where it enters the steering column. If anyone else had this issue and fixed it please help!
Thanks guys

Welcome to the club. You might want to throw on a fire suit as some people here get quite heated when new members tend to ask questions without searching. I'll try to help best I can.
20mpg is very good as most members are getting below that. I do not permix so I can not comment on that but there are some pretty extensive threads on it.
As for head unit upgrades, you are very limited unless you have something custome made. The RX-8 has the climate control running through the stereo so you can't just throw a new head unit in without doing some electrical work. There is one kit out there now called CorkSport and a lot of us have it. I have one with a JVC double din head unit and I like very much. Again there is quite a few threads on this also.
As for the rattle, I can't help you there. Don't have it in mine. Good luck with your new ride and most of all enjoy it. There is a ton on information out here so poke around and search for anything you can think of. chanches are there will be a thread about it.

Ethanol content should be marked on the pump. Some states require 10% ethanol. Yeah, the stuff cuts mileage a bit and also increases the price. And using it for fuel serves to decimate rain forests and/or starve out third world populations. But we're stuck with it.

Yeah this site is actually really useful, I thought I knew a lot about the car (been following and reading everything about it since 2004) but theres a ton more info on here too. Those who are in the know, keep up the posts to keep the rest of us informed.
