New RX-8 Owner...

Just want to say hey, I purchased a black '04 GT MT with 11,000 miles on it this past week. I owned an RX-7 many years ago and I have to say it feels great to be driving a Mazda Rotary again. I was lurking on here gathering information for a couple of weeks and have to say thanks for all of the invaluable info that helped me make a somewhat intelligent decision on my purchase. Looking forward to a lot of fun in my new ride.

Hope you have as much fun with your as we are having with ours -
This was one of those cars that just felt right - and even keeping it sparkling is fun!
You live in an area where it will be a joy to get out and drive - but make sure it has some good weather tires for winter!

Hey, thanks for the great welcome. To answer a couple of the questions asked in this thread: 1). My first RX-7 was first generation 1980, I bought it in '84 while in college, silver with burgundy interior. 2). My '04 RX-8 is Black/Black-Chaparral, GT, MT, spoiler, basically loaded, except no navi. Excellent condition, with 11,000 miles and I paid $19,500 from a private seller. It had several door dings from being parked in a garage in downtown Cincinnati but the Dent Doctor took care of those and I had a 100% great result from that fix. 3). I'm not worried about the snow or snow tires, as I have a Hummer H3 to drive during rain, snow or any other occasion that would be detrimental to my 8. As a matter of fact, I haven't driven my H3 for the past 8 days except once when it was raining.

You will soon be driving it in the rain, and don't feel bad about it. You have DSC so you can do all sorts of stupid stuff with it

Congratulations on your purchase. Enjoy!

I lusted after the first-gen RX-7, but never owned one. I remember looking and drooling, though.

Make sure you break it in. It's a little known fact that anytime a Renesis changes owners it requires that you court it for 600miles. Meaning nothing over 3500RPMs you hear!

No no no, until he has fully acquainted himself with the Renesis for 600 miles, no redlining. Otherwise the Renesis feels used like a ***** and gives you the "marbles in a can".

It comes from owners not loving their Renesis.

How do you know that? There a bunch of owners here who care so much for their car and would kill to find out how they got the marbles and how to get rid of them.

Well the Renesis is a high maintenance girl, you gotta wine, dine, and play that smooth soul music every night for her for the entire 600 mile duration.
