New Owner needs help identifying

Hey guys, I just bought an 04 RX8 and It didn't have awindow sticker with it so I'm confused as to what model my car is. Maybe you guys can help.

04 6spd (4000 miles)
6spd
seats are half leather half suede (never seen it on any other car before)
18" wheels
DSC
Traction control
Spoiler
rotary accent package
HID's
fog lights
no bose radio
no sunroof
no 6disk changer

What type of car is this?? I figure it's a base car with sport and rotary accent package...but then whats the deal with the leather/suede seats or the HID's??

Wow, those seats are awesome. There wasn't anything like that available from the factory, so those are definitely custom. If you can, as the previous owner (or dealer?) where they got the seats done and how much they cost, I'm curious.

Anyway, from what you describe, it sounds like a Sport model with a couple of cosmetic add-ons.

I got screwed by a shady car salesman at a small lot. He has lied about a LOT of stuff with this car and we're going to be calling him first thing in the morning o get this resolved.

just curious though....does anyone here have sirius radio?? The salesman said he "had to remove it" because it was drawing too much power and blew the first radio out. Mazda replaced it under warranty but required he remove it. He offered to give it to us but would have to ship it this week.

We are going to have some SERIOUS problems with this lot. I'll keep you guys posted with what happens.

Sirius was not offered in 2004. Only offered as option in 2005.

Got to love these dealers. Make crap up as they go along.

oh I know the sirius was added on later....thats not the problem. The problem is when I arrived the sirius was not in the car. He told me it was removed...now the trim panel around the stereo is all pryed on and chipped....

I feel like I've been hosed by a shady slaesman....I'm going to pressure him tomorrow for a partial refund

I may be making another trip down to MS with my attorney this weekend.

Just go into your local Mazda dealer and tell them your V.I.N. #. They can print off a sheet that tells you what day your car was built, the day it was sold, the dealer that ordered it, all dealer/dealer transactions, the name, address, and phone number of the original buyer, all the options........just so much info. I had to do that with my Shinka, I bought it used with only 111 miles on it.......tell me that's not a steal.

It's a Sport package, not a base one.

The leather is non-Mazda, probably Classic Soft Trim or Katzkins. Looks more like CST. Nothing inherantly wrong with that (I prefer CST to the factory Mazda leather, personally), but you should have a DEALER verify that the seat-mounted airbags are wired OK and not showing any fault codes. That leather/suede is pretty damn cool, actually.

As for Sirius, here's the deal: In '04, the factory head unit was not Sirius-ready. For *later* '05 models, it is. While it is theoretically possible to have the firmware on the factory head unit upgraded, and install the Mazda Sirius tuner, the wiring for the antenna makes this usually impractical and pretty much cost-prohibitive. Most likely, the Sirius unit he mentioned was an aftermarket 'hang-on' installation, not tightly integrated into the factory head unit.

The trim pieces around the radio are replaceable. I wouldn't sweat the Sirius business. Carry the car to a dealer and have it checked out for compliance with all recalls (2) and TSBs (many).

Im Danomite...YEAH!! Thats what I'm talling about!! I saw that picture, called the dealer and asked if the seat was torn....he said "everything on this car is immacualte, no problems anywhere." When I got to the lot and saw it was torn (not really torn but loose and sticking out) he said "oh, well I never saw that....you should just take it to mazda and have them fix it"

Joseight, Yeah. I bought this for my wife as a graduation present. It was either this or an 04 Cobra (yellow). We couldn't find any yellow cobras so we decided on the RX8....she loves it (aside from all the small problems)

Anyone know where I can look up the TSB's besides AllData? I looked on all data and it didn't mention anything about the brake squeal or anything...can someone link me to the TSB info?

Hope you got a good deal, and that you have better luck in the future than you did with the LSOS who sold you the car.

well, I'm hoping I got a good deal..... When I was shopping around it was the cheapest out of all the cars I looked and it had more options and less miles than any others. I paid $22.8K out the door for it with 3100 miles on it. It was USPPOSED to have the sirius radio in it but it is now un-installed.

dealer basicallty said he bought the car at auction from a local Mazda dealership in Hattisesburg, MS. ...the car only came with one key and a generic key fob, not even the authentic key fob. He also said that he WILL pay a local upholstery shop to fix my seats at no cost to me. As for the dash being pitted and pried upon he said it was like that before he bought the car....I asked him why he didn't tell me about when I asked him about the condition of everything. He pleads ignorance....

I feel I was dealt with shitt-ily but got a great car at a great price. Sorry I don't know more about the seats....i was told they were factory so I can't help much.

So, what you're saying is that you bought the car sight unseen with no test drive and now you have no recourse...

sorta.... what I'm happy about is that I got a great car (with minor blemishes) at a great price and other than being yanked by a shitty dealer I'm very happy with the deal/car.

small curb spots on the rims are being fixed by a friend for free.....the stereo pryings are going to be smoothed back down and the seat is being fixed by a professional upholsterer. After thats done the car is flawless and still has less than 4200 miles on it.

i think it was still a good deal. considering the price, mileage, and magnitude of the blemishes, its a good deal. at least he is trying to help you out by paying for the seat to be fixed. as far as the seats being stock, yeah, about as stock as the pry marks on the stereo.

If he took out the sirius radio and said it was in the car, he should give you the radio separately.

Btw...no sunroof, no bose = you have the sport package.

So did he sell it as used then? Because if he sold this car as new and it didn't have the MSRP sticker its a criminal offense and you should be able to get your money back and more.

A little off topic. Does anyone know if the MP3 enabled HU would need an upgrade?
I don't have any immediate plans to add the Sirius option, but I'm curious.

Jeez, I'm wondering if I got a good deal now. For same price as in this thread, I only got GT/MT with 6disc + cassette, rear wing, rotary accents, 7K miles, Greddy SP2, Brushed aluminum dash trim, Tanabe NF210's, wheels refinished to perfect, clear corners, MS front strut bar, etc. No modified seats or stereo, though. Damn.
