Thumbs up New owner! Came from a MustangGT

Well I did it.

Test drove it twice and was simply amazed. Even in it's stock configuration, as expected, it destroys my old GT with all it's mods.

I was carving in and out of turns with ease. The salesmen crapped his pants, I think.

The driver position to pedals, wheel, and shifter are heaven. I am just in love with the car.

Yes, it's not as torquey or even as fast as my GT but I don't do the "stop light" 1/4 mile runs. I drive like a bat out of hell on the twisty roads on LA. It's my "drug". I am tired of getting beat by all these WRXs and Evos! The Stang just cannot cut through those turns like they can.

I also don't want a "four door". I thought I was doomed. Then I saw the RX8. Technically it has 4 doors, but the styling says otherwise.

I take delivery tomorrow. I am going to try and get the dealer to throw in the mp3 player. They were offering an aftermarket moonroof to install...but I am not sure if I like the idea of compromising the structure of the car for that.

Great info here and I look forward to more!

Actually a properly installed sunroof can increase structural rigidity! Between the well design of the sunroof pan and the bracing. You'd be suprised at the strentgh one can add.

Why in the world would you say that? I mean if you have something to say, at leat give some reasoning behind it. Bad experience? What? sunroofs have come along wayin the last 5 to 10 years. Most of what you think is factory at dealers are really aftermarket.

Lots of bad experiance.....better to go factory or not at all.

If he is going to be driving hard, better not to have the flex the mod will cause...

Just my humble opinion.

Heh, thanks. Actually the nic name is "Q" but most places; someone already is using that nic. So hence "Mr_Q".

P.S. Still trying to get them to throw in the mp3 player instead of the moonroof. Or I should say no moonroof.

That would be your choice ultimatley. But find out if it would be a lame *** "moonroof" or sunroof? They are completely different! And also how much is an aftermarket MP3? 1 or 2 hundred? I have no idea. But find which would be a better deal.

I dont think its aftermarket. Its the one that swaps out the stock CD player with a Mazda part. One that can play mp3s.

Wait until you get more used to the handling characteristics of your new RX-8 -- simply amazing ride.

Enjoy, and welcome to the Club.

I'd go with the OEM mp3 player... but that's just me. Congrats by the way!

Me too

Last week I traded in my 2000 GT Convertible for an RX-8.

There's so many things Ford did with the Mustang that pissed me off it's nice to be in a Japanese car.

I've had 2 Mustangs so far over 7 years.

The switch was worth it. It's not quite as torque'y (yeah new word huh?) but it feels so much more solid on the road.

I hated how Ford didn't care about interior ergonomics. Especially, leaving the stick shift in the same place as the Automatic shifter. It was too far away. Even worse than a short throw shifter.

The throw on the RX-8 is still smaller than the throw with my aftermarket short throw shifter.

I could go on an on about what makes the RX-8 better. But, you've all heard it before.

MR Q: maybe we can meet up in LA and cruise
